lol. Anyone else think TheGleninator is a troll when he posts now?

More importantly, can any of you fathom actually cheering for Vancouver.. ever?

I could only cheer for them against Edmonton (but in my heart, I'd be cheering for the asteroid)

I can assure you I am not a troll, I don't dislike any team it seems that I am some kind of freak but I just don't ever hate a team.

So what happens with an RFA? I understand that we have the option to match any contract another team offers, or recieve compensation......but what if no team offers anything?
We've got a pretty big group of RFA's so I'm just wondering how this will all shake down.

we have to give them qualifying offers to retain their rights, most of the RFAs will not receive qualifying offers. I think its a foregone conclusion that Irving and Byron will receive a QO and Comeau is debatable. Other than that all our RFAs will likely become UFAs since they will not receive an offer for us to retain their rights.

I don't think Dallas Hockey Fan was incredulous at the thought of Jokinen getting a raise. I suspect he was incredulous that you think keeping Jokinen at that high a cost is the right thing to do going forward. I certainly feel that way.

I can see Jokinen asking for $4-5M per year, but he shouldn't get it. $3.5M per for 2-3 years, that's it. If I was his agent I'd be pointing to Grabovski's contract in Toronto and arguing something along the lines of "$4-5M per year is what a player of Jokinen's calibre demands today" and if I was the Flames GM I'd tell said agent, as politely as I could, to shove it up his ass.

That's some serious personality issues you've got to fix there.

In all seriousness, agreed. The very maximum is 3 years and even then I would want little to nothing in terms of NTC/NMC.

Just trying to make the point that, objectively, that's what you've got to do in either situation. No grudges, no trying to screw the other party over, just trying to do right by everyone involved.

But, in the spirit of the question posed at the very beginning of this thread, I'd give him $3.5M per year for 2-3 years. That's it. No more money, no more term. And no NMC/NTC at all.

He was very good for most of the season though, and every game matters right? Not saying I'm not extremely disappointed in his last 10 games but looking at this season as a whole he has delivered beyond his caphit. For the same $$$ he should definitely be re-signed IMO because there's no one better available and I should hope Feaster is still trying to put together the best team possible.

My two cents on the rest:

Olli Jokinen - re-sign
Lee Stempniak - re-sign
David Moss - let go
Tom Kostopolous - let go and it's spelled Kostopoulos dammit
Corey Sarich - let go
Scott Hannan - let go
Ratis Ivanans - lol

Blake Comeau - let go
Mikael Backlund - re-sign
Blair Jones - re-sign
Leland Irving - re-sign
Paul Byron - re-sign
Stefan Meyer - what happened to this guy anyway?

loaned to a Swedish club because we had too many AHL veterans.

We didn't make the playoffs, why do you guys want to keep so much of the core around? Its obvious its NOT WORKING.

you are so short sighted. a new system could change as much as trading the core, without making them a bottom feeding loser like you think they should strive to be

Here's mine:

Olli Jokinen- UFA- I'd only resign him if it's near the 3.5-4.2 million range. Other than that, let him walk.
Lee Stempniak- Resign
David Moss- Walk
Tom Kostopolous- Walk
Corey Sarich- Walk
Scott Hannan- Resign him for the same price.
Ratis Ivanans- WALK.

Blake Comeau- Walk. He'll probably want more than what he is worth.
Mikael Backlund- RFA (re-sign)
Blair Jones- RFA (re-sign)
Leland Irving- RFA (re-sign)
Paul Byron- RFA (re-sign)
Stefan Meyer- Walk

Keep:
David Moss- UFA - He'll be a fairly cheap re-sign and he's very versatile, good to keep around.
Scott Hannan- UFA - He'll cost more than last year, but he's a solid piece to round out the blueline, and we don't know if any of the guys in the AHL are ready to take over his defensive role.
- self-explanatory RFAs
Mikael Backlund- RFA
Blair Jones- RFA
Leland Irving- RFA
Paul Byron- RFA

Maybe:
Olli Jokinen- UFA - Depending on price and depending if we can't trade for a scorer around the draft.
Blake Comeau- RFA - max of $1.5m

Buh-bye:
Lee Stempniak- UFA
Tom Kostopolous- UFA
Corey Sarich- UFA
Ratis Ivanans- UFA
Stefan Meyer- RFA

Why not keep Stemps instead of Moss he has more offensive ability and would only a bit more to keep?

All i know is that this is the team I want Feaster to go into the offseason trade mode with and build on it.

Tanguay-Camalleri-X
1st line: This line is going to be our skilled veteran line. We need to add a player that can score. Baertschi could play with Cammy and Tangs.

Baertschi-X-X
2nd line: This should be the young star line. Maybe Backlund finds chemistry with Bart and we add another Euro player to create a sexy flashy goal scoring line.

Glencross-Backlund-X
3rd line: Should be a line that can support the top 2 lines offensively.

Bouma-Jones-Jackman
4th line: grind the F out of the hockey game.

Giordano-X
Brodie-Smith
Butler-Hannan

Our defence needs goal scoring D. ex: Mike Green

Irving
X
(Ramo)

Coach: X
GM: Feaster

Players that can potentially make it to big team full time: Nemisz, Wilson, Byron, Horak, Reinhart.

I like it. would you trade Jbow for Grabner+? Grabner and Sven could be deadly.

At this point i'd trade Jbouw for my personal mistake I made in my life yesterday. On a serious note yes I would probably entertain that offer. Semin would be nice on the 2nd line but he is a large risk.

With Semin and Grabner it could look like

Tangs- Cammy - Semin

Baertschi - X - Grabner

That top 6 is so much faster than our current one.

I really think that Backlund can fill that 2nd line C role. Bart and Backlund play a similar style of game (Bart being more skilled). They can really feed of each other.

The Flames will probably look like this next year

Tangs-Cammy-Iggy
Baertschi-Jokinen-Glenx
Moss-Backlund-Stemp
Bouma-Jones-Jackman

Thus not triming the fat on this roster and ending in a sub par season again.

I couldn't less what people say, Tko has tons of heart but I sure as **** don't want him on the team any more. We need a new core and a coach.
