Schenn was very bad this year, thats been well documented. He seems to have a habit of being on one year and off the next so hopefully he's on next year and then kicks that habit and becomes on every year.
He's a guy I would keep putting in trade proposals though, you have to give something to receive something and Schenn's lack of hockey sense makes me doubtful of his future. I dont mind keeping him but he's not close to untouchable.

First comparison is to the almighty captain of the leafs. I would have liked to see Schenn see some PP time (20-30 sec. avg?) as well as 2-3 mins more per game (which should have come from Phaneuf's ice time).
The hate for this Schenn is misplaced, especially when he is only responsible for a 1/4of the game. The real blame should be on #3. He simply has not provided 25 quality minutes every night. I wonder what these stats would be if they both played closer to 20 min a night?
Second comaprison is to Marc Staal when he was 22. Comparible stats IMO.
I believe that if Schenn doesn't become a solid #2-3 in this league, it is because he didn't spend a year dominating the WHL. Staal had the opportunity to do that in Sudbury and I think it did him a world of good, especially carrying his team to the OHL finals.
Schenn's entire game revolves around his confidence. Some players need to be given the opportunity to work through their struggles, instead of being sat to 'think about it'.
Beyond Schenn's slow skating, his decision making process is also quite atrocious. He's slow, has no hands and his slow thinking the game. He'll probably peak as a Beauchemin/Gill type defensive defenseman, but by no means a 'beast'. More likely he'll be like a journeyman Luke Richardson and make nice tidy contributions on winning teams needing third pairing defensemen for playoff runs and get flipped every couple of years for 3rd round picks at the deadline.
this is pretty much spot on.. schenn is terrible, i've seen defenseman in jr b hockey with more talent, puck looks like its going to explode when it touches his stick
