I don't know that the Rangers are going to call him up and throw him into the playoffs and waste a year on his ELC (I think this is the case). Maybe if someone else gets hurt?

No doubt it was still dangerous and he could've gotten injured, but he avoided getting taken out by the knees, it was heads up awareness. Some players would've taken that hip check right to the knees.

Shame he wears #19, as Richards also does.

Didn't he wear #20 in the WJC's and World Championships? Wouldn't mind seeing him in that number and I know it really doesn't mean much, just throwing it out there.

I would love #91, for some reason that number just looks awesome to me.

Last NYR player I remember wearing that number was Steve Rucchin.

#20 would be good. #22 would be too.

While I personally am inclined to agree with you, I don't think the organization does. The team is one injury away from being neutered in the playoffs. There's just no depth at this point. No moves at the deadline to bolster the bottom 6 coupled with Zucc's injury and we're walking a fine line. If the team can get Kreider to sign next week and get him laced up for the Caps game I think they do it. He doesn't need to be a savior...but that's one extra big/fast body they could desperately use. If that's what happens so be it.

good pt as at this pt the depth is
D- Eminger(banged up), Woywitka, Erixon
F- Wellman, Newbury, Deveaux, Thurreson, ........yea rough

Zukes injury really hurt the depth. I dont mind the 12 going now but would rather have Mitchel sitting

Never again. That jersey number needs to be exiled from the Rangers organization.

Part of the deal would be Kreider having to play 2 years at entry level money instead of 3 years.

Carp wrote about it a few weeks ago

Quote:
And many of you have concerns over his three-year entry-level contract kick starting. Well, I assure you the Rangers are not concerned about that. In fact, they will use that as an incentive to get Kreider signed. He gets a pile of money and a year closer to arbitration, a year closer to restricted free agency, without playing. That’s what they’d dangle in front of him. So it’s pretty certain that he will sign as soon as B.C. is done.

The organization doesn’t worry about the same types of things fans worry about—how they’ll have to increase his salary sooner, etc. Plus that could all change when the new CBA is in place.

Kreider won't get performance bonuses in the first season. Performance bonuses in the 2nd and 3rd seasons. It lowers the cap too.

i think Ryan Callahan learned a lot from Chris Drury. He does a lot of the things that a Drury in his prime did.

He should wear 16 so everyone stops talking about the Vogue intern who used to wear it.

So then Cally must have been watching video from Drury's Sabres days?

Yes, #16 should be reborn through Krieder.

Can't wait to see him in Ranger blue, next season is going to be sick.

That would be awesome!

Does Kreider's contract kick in the moment he is added to the NHL roster, or upon playing his first game?

Which is why I would rather we wait until next season to bring him up. While I certainly think he'd be a help this year, I'd rather we get a full season out of him.

If you think he can contribute this year why does his losing a year of the ELC matter? You play the regular season to make the playoffs. That's the whole point. And we'll still get a full season out of him next year and the year after before we have to worry about dealing with his first RFA contract. In the scheme of things it's quite negligible...particularly IF you feel he can contribute NOW.
