On that note. Look at how many guys just show up and have there best years playing for the NYY. There are some that can not handle it. But I would say most guys have there best years after joining the Yankees. Its hard not to say winning breads winners.
I think it has to do more with depth than some magical aura (that I guess went on vacation in the 80s), but I guess I'm in the minority around here.

This has nothing to do with depth. Its about a guy like Paul O'Neill playing 800 games in Cinn and hit .259. Then joins the Yankees and plays 1254 games and hits .303 with a .359 batting tittle. That is one of the more extreme examples. But its been happening for 20+ years (my time hatting the Yankees) guy just play better when they get to play for a winner.
In the early 90s I agree. But there have been more underperformers in pinstripes lately. Brocious, oneill's have been less likely compared to the higher profile giambi's, pavano, Weaver's, knoblocks. Then players just below their standards like mussina. Not many have really elevated their game.
So if the caps win the SE their 1st rounder will prolly be the 24th pick in the draft if we make the 8th seed our 1st rounder will be in the 15-17 range. Since this is HF i bring up the issue, How much value is in those 9 slots compared to getting the #3 seed vs NJD or the #8 vs NYR

Not at all concerned with playing for either. Just win the games and make the playoffs. Way too many outside variables to try to rig the "best" situation.
At least our center troubles are a thing of the past. Per Swedish sports writer @johan85eriksson, Sjogren wants to try to make the Caps again this summer.

Jay Beagle's breakout makes it that much more difficult for Sjogren. If he had stuck around he'd have got his cup of coffee, but he didn't.
beating out jay beagle for an nhl roster spot is pretty low hanging fruit as those things go.
And yet certainly an obstacle for this player. His SEL team's year is over so theoretically he could be loaned back to Hershey but that's not going to happen. That would be a start in getting back in their good graces. Maybe they can get a sixth or seventh at the draft or a disposable prospect from one of the teams that were interested.
He deserves a chance. Hell, he definitely earned one this summer.
We have a player like Sjogren. His name is Jay Beagle. Not saying I'd have been mad if they called him up, but losing him is about as low-impact as it gets.
