Grigorenko might be a slightly better passer, better one on one ability, and he's slightly bigger than Gally.

Galchenyuk is a riskier pick but he will be better IMO.
100% agree.

We all know that in the NHL, to win, you need a very skilled player who has a lot of heart and good work ethic and Galchenyuk has that all written on him! This guy works so hard and hes got such a good work ethic. He also loves the game and likes to win!! Grig is very skillful but is that enough to get you a cup?? don't think so.. Galy will be the steal of this draft and i hope we pick him!! and plus, him and grabo will be great friends here and will fed of eachother! both belrussian(sp) or w.e.. Galy!!! please hockey gods make this happen!!! tank nation!!!!

If we are going to attempt to acquire another 1st rounder this year, i would go right to the top and get Columbus's "presumably" #1 pick.

Galchenyuk and Yakupov are teammates now, so it would be a natural progression to draft them together.

If i had to trade Kessel for that #1 pick, i would do it in a heartbeat.

Good chance that pick is available and Columbus needs everything right now, so why not give it a shot?

The Blue Jackets will value this pick far more than you think they will.
1) They want someone who Rick Nash can play with
2) The cap hit will be so much smaller than anyone of value most teams could offer
3) It instills confidence for Rich Nash if the pick is well executed
4) Its marketability to Columbus fans will be high

We'd be this years philly. Trade established player for prospects. I'd trade kessel straight up for the 1st overall. Since kessel is ufa in 2 years I'd add holzer to make it a bit fair since he might leave them.

Lupul/kadri - Grabovski - Kulemin
Yakupov - Galchenyuk - Kadri/lupul
Frattin - Bozak - MacArthur
4th line

phaneuf - gunnarsson
liles - schenn
shultz - gardiner

The 1st and 2nd line can be interchangeable depending on how well the rookies can play. It would be tempting to take Yakupov and grigorenko instead. But if we do get the 1st overall plus we keep our pick then I think you just go for yak and gal since they have chemistry.

so we trade 2 1st and a 2nd for kessel, only to flip him for a single 1st after he had a career year?

c'mon dude.

It's very relevant for the time being. Also, Nash has a very small trade list and Howson is demanding a lot so the possibility of Nash remaining with the club is much higher than Howson remaining with the club.

can't see Nash staying after it's been made public that he asked for a trade. clearly he doesn't want to be there.

of course he's going to demand a ton to see what teams will offer...but in the end, i believe he'll take the best offer and Nash will be moved, whether it be less than the asking price or not.

I do not want to see Grigs in a Habs jersey.

Montreal vs Toronto on last day of season will be pivotal
It's going to be the most exciting game of the season as teams will be blocking shots all over the ice trying to prevent each other from scoring on themselfs. Also the Goalies will be everywhere but the crease.

Seguin + Hamilton + Knight for Yakupov?

That is the question.

Man that is a dream lineup. Hopefully they would suck massively for the first year and then the team could snag mckinnon. Total Dynasty.

The poll is still reasonably close. So finally, whats the general consensus ?
I voted for Grigorenko but Galchenyuk is perfect too.

I'd just be happy if either of them is available when we pick.

Best case scenario, and it is only right that something good happens to the Leafs, all this suffering must be rewarded, hopefully the hockey gods smile at us. Karma

Both. No need to decide. Except I don't know how we would accomplish that.
