No, 12 weeks paid, then they can take a bunch of time off for the FMLA. Maybe 12 more weeks, but I am not sure.
There is no way that's right. When companies offer paid time for primary/secondary caregiver leave, it runs concurrently with FMLA leave, not consecutively. Unless your company is extremely generous and well-staffed, that's some SERIOUS job protection.
Not to get all political, but I don't know how women can take 3 months - a quarter of the year - off away from work, still get their full paycheck the whole time, then turn around and complain that the corporate sphere is sexist.
I'm not trying to say that they're off on a vacation or that raising kids is easy, it isn't, but still, that's not a company's responsibility, and the idea that you can disappear for 12 weeks, still get paid, and keep your job is disturbing.
Yea. Along with the 4 weeks vacation they get, it's a crap load of time off.
Annnnd one of the beyatches on my team is pregant and due in October, so she's getting November, December, and January off.
i'm glad my job is pretty much all men. i think there are a few women in the field service division but most of the women are supervisors and rarely leave the office. i like working with women to a point. i always find women more interesting to talk to but they tend to get pretty catty which is bad.

We have Parental Sick Leave. 2 weeks paid for bonding time, sick parent or child.
You can take more but that is un paid.
For maternity leave it is 12 weeks unpaid. We allow for Short term disability to be used so they can keep their income going.
THE 1st week is vacation and then you get 6 weeks short term disability at 100% pay. You can add in the PSIL and that's 2 weeks at 100%. The remaining weeks are unpaid unless you use sick/personal/vacation time.

Drink a few glasses of water before bed after going out drinking, you'll be right as rain when you get up. Rehydrates you and helps flush out the toxic byproducts of metabolizing alcohol.
I was invited to attend a fundraiser last night for the Greater Boston Spinal Chord Injury Foundation. I had originally been asked to donate some prints (I do photography) for the silent auction.
I attended it at the Hilton at Logan Airport--which you have to be Magellan to find lol
Anyway, it was an absolutely wonderful event. Everyone I met was gracious and upbeat and engaging. I sort of eaves dropped as people talked and walked by my photography. It was overwhelming to watch people take an interest and (in some cases) bid money amounts.
I've never had an experience like that...people are amazing. The Hilton is a beautiful hotel and the place rocked all night with dancing and food and smiles.
and THIS is my friend Dave who make it all happen. His story is quite incredible.... Hes a pretty great guy and ran the entire gig last night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cADgB5ReJs
My prints raised a little bit of money for their organization. I am so honored to have been a part...

Whats funny is that I drink so much water, but for some reason I didnt then. I think what made it worse was that I have a cold too.
Good advice though.. I will have to remember that next time
