He's on a team that's guaranteed to be in the playoffs at this point. He's not worrying about much.
Compare that to Spezza who was all business and knew that his goal could be the difference maker in securing a playoff berth for the Sens.
Good game Flyers fans. No quit from your team. Best of luck in the playoffs. Hope you can take out the Pens.
that kind of attitude is brutal for a franchise player. there is NEVER a reason to 'not care', especially on something that requires little to no effort like the shootout.
huge fan of giroux, but lav better keep him grounded.
1. Why did the Flyers change their style of play for the third Period? The assault was working, why go back into the turtle style of play we were using in the first that yielded 3 goals against? We play so much better when we're activating our defense. Lavi always seems to do that when we come back to tie up a game. Sometimes I wonder if he's oblivious to what's working. Don't fix what isn't broken.
2. Giroux should have saved that move for a game without much meaning. That was definitely not the time to practice for the All-Star skills competition.
3. We're gonna be dead tired tomorrow. I feel like it will be a huge let down.
We deserved to win that game, but unfortunately we suck in the skills competition.
I said it before in the GDT (when we were down 3-0) and I'll say it again:
- We're probably the only fan base on HF that doesn't give up on their team no matter what the score is.
2-0 or 3-0 deficits just don't seem so bad, I mean they almost came back against the Devils in the third after being down 6-0
How the hell were we ever going to win that shootout if Ottawa never miss? It's just delaying the inevitable, Giroux was just saving our fans time on the ride home.
Not sure wth he's thinking, there's home ice on the line and he's ****ing around? disappointed to see.
I know I'm a hypocrite because if it went in, I would have cheered. But I don't know if this was the time or place. It seemed like he also joked with one of his friends on the other team afterwards, and I really wish he didn't do that either.

I'm not sure if you're a Flyer fan, but if you're not you CLEARLY don't watch Giroux.
He'll literally try any move if he thinks it'll work, that goal he scored against Toronto in the SO was a very risky move.
Either it goes in and he's the hero, or he misses and he's the goat, he felt confident trying the move though because it worked in practice.
The move he did today was a move he probably tried out in practice as well, and decided to use it in the game.
I agree with the announcers though, they said Giroux tried the move because Anderson stopped everything else he threw on net,
So he might as well switch it up
Giroux is a very grounded/humble kid.

I'm pretty sure Martin St. Louis has used that move in a regular season SO and scored. Giroux did a Datsyuk a few weeks ago and this time he was trying the St. Louis.
Yeah, I know, but still I can't understand it. He has the bests moves and vision in the league.
When Laviolette used a reluctant Jagr earlier in the season, the reason given was a desire to try different players. However, after the same game, Jagr said “No, I didn’t (want to participate). I don’t want to shoot it – I don’t want to do what I did." Judging by even earlier comments from this season, he seems to be tentative on the topic but Laviolette probably senses the dislike and hesitation.
From December:
“I'm not saying I’m in big favor of it. It’s like back checking. I don’t like back checking. Bleep! It’s part of the game.”
“I didn’t say I didn’t want to be there, but I didn’t bleeping come to coach and say, ‘Hey coach, put me on.’ It’s two different things. If the coach tells me to go, I’m gonna go. If you ask me to guarantee that I’m going to score, no I won’t guarantee anything. Nobody in the world can guarantee they will score. The best players probably 35 percent.”
Don't have a problem with G's move, I bet he had something special in store and when Anderson tried to poke check it got him screwed up so he just tried to put it over him. He said it during the Toronto shootout that he tries the stuff in practice all the time and when it goes wrong it looks bad. I bet its not the first time Lavi or the rest of the team has seen it either, I'm sure hes done it in practice a few times as well.

Dont know why people are freaking out. Bill M said that Giroux was doing that move during practicing and scoring on it. He decided to try it during the game and missed. Oh well.
That being said, scoring on Bryz/Bob is not that hard.

I'm not "freaking out", it just seemed like a move reserved for All Star weekend and not when you could really use the extra point, that's all. But hey if it works in practice then I guess it's good enough for the real thing.

Meh, you gotta try anything. We've seen the best in the game get stoned on ridiculous moves many times. If Anderson missed the poke check G probably scores and its on every highlight reel. I give him props for trying it. It's not like it was Shelley trying some crazy behind the back move. If anyone on the team can score like that, it's G.
