No, he doesn't have the brain damage to give up a top 3-5 pick, Kadri and Gardiner for an overrated 60 point forward who has one of the top 5 cap hits in the NHL.
It's an either or seeing as no other teams are offering a lottery pick.
If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing. As quoted in Listening and Speaking : A Guide to Effective Oral Communication (1954) by Ralph G. Nichols and Thomas R. Lewis, p. 74
When people say Nash is this amazing overall talent who does it all, do they watch him play?
He is so invisible so many nights and is very lazy and disinterested on the ice.
Phil Kessel is easily better.
If Nash played in Toronto making 7.8 million per with that production, the media and fans of other teams would be ripping him apart.
He's escaping all criticism hiding in Columbus.
Just like if Phil Kessel hid in Columbus he'd be getting no criticism compared to the daily crap he gets on the Leafs.
If Kessel played in C-bus, he would be as good as patty kane.
Ok lets look at the facts
Offensive production: Kessel wins (almost certain to eclipse Nash's best ever point production on a a playoff calibre team while kessel played in a lottery team)
Size: Nash wins. No debate here
Grit: Nash wins
Defense: Same, you guys really need to watch nash play sometimes. Very disinterested.
Age: Kessel. 3-4 years isnt nothing. Its the difference between kessel and seguin, and I know how much you all complain "the future we lost!!"
+/-: Kessel wins
Salary: Kessel. 2.5 mill cheaper.
Then you look at linemates this year:
Nash:
Carter
Umberger
Huselius
Vermette
Prospal
Kessel:
Lupul
Bozak
Lombardi
Connolly
MacArthur
I think the columbus group would universally be considered better. If you dont believe me, you can ask the main boards. In terms of producing despite linemates, Kessel wins.
Contract Status: Nash has a full NMC while kessel has nothing on it. In terms of value, Kessel wins.
Nationality: Kessel is american, Nash is from the GTA. Nash wins
Verdict: kessel wins. If a trade occured, it would be nash+ for kessel, or nash for kessel straight up.
If Kessel played in C-bus, he would be as good as patty kane.

The complaint is losing out on the superior hockey player not the minor age difference. Add in Hamilton and it's no contest.
Seguin's talent and ability if he reaches his full potential to me he's Patrick Marleau right now what I see from him is a young Chris Drury. He's no franchise player talent a good top line player that could play on my team any day but to mention him as a super star talent is disrespectful to those players who are he doesn't belong just on talent in the same sentence as Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos or even the all around type of players like Toews. He's so far away from a Jonathan Toews it isn't even funny so yup I agree with you Beleafer.
Neither are franchise players but Seguin is a complete hockey player. Kessel isn't.
Kessel is a game breaker and the higher offensively gifted between the 2. Seguin may have some traits that are better than Kessel but don't act that there isn't any traits that Kessel has over Seguin and he's been getting better each and every year not just in his overall game but at his strengths as a player.
You guys are well within your rights to prefer Seguin over Kessel but don't try and sell that right now Seguin is on the same level Kessel is at when the opposition sets an entire game plan to line and D match to shut Kessel down yet he's among the leaders both in points and goals , as good as Seguin has been he doesn't command such attention and is insulated by guys like Bergeron who's Boston's best player at both ends of the ice not Seguin.
I get the fact that you guys see Seguin's age and think that improvement is imminent when really that may not be the case Seguin is just as much destined to be a player that will always be less of an impact than Kessel as you think he will be better.
Let me ask this has Kessel peaked? We forget that Kessel is still young himself and there's still more to him production wise when this year we've seen his play making game get to the next level + he's the only NHL player these past 4 years to score 30+ goals in each of these 4 years you may knock Kessel's defensive game but IMO his offense makes more than enough up for that between himself and Seguin. Seguin has a hell of a lot to do to get to the same level Kessel is at and that's a fact.

Iginla is on his 11th. straight year of scoring over 30.
Seguin has not peaked at 20, and Kessel might not have peaked at 24.

oops on Iginla don't think there is anymore is there?
Oh I know Seguin hasn't peaked but his skills and talent aren't limitless he's no Yzerman and he's no Toews + offensively he's no Kessel
We like to drool over what could have been and toss to the side what we do have as crap and what pisses me off what we do have is not that much older and is currently the better player between the 2 and getting better yet we dismiss that.
