They will draft Grigorenko or Yakupov if they get that low. They will (may?) try to trade the 5 pick, w/Schenn/Kadri/etc for Nash though..
Same would likely apply if Montreal won the lottery.

If this team continues being this awful, why would Kessel re-sign?

What the hell are you talking about? Am I talking about a fifth rounder? no. A second rounder? no. A mid-late first? no. I'm talking about a top 5 pick. Go look at the numbers and tell me top 5 picks don't usually work out.

The problem is that Kessel is a top-5 pick that we know has worked out. You'd essentially be trading a top scoring winger for someone who you hope develops into a top scoring winger...

Grigorenko is pegged by most scouts as a winger, and I've also heard has been dropping lately. Not sure who said it, just that it was mentioned by one of the analysts during the Ottawa 67's/Belleville Bulls game on Friday, 30 March.

Rumor going around that Burke will trade his first round pick for Tom Kurvers' son.

That's working pretty good for Sarnia this year, who are looking ready to get eliminated in the first round of the OHL playoffs. I'm not sure I'd want to build my team around a couple of foreign players who've spent large portions of the season injured and don't seem to be playing well under pressure. (-6 and -8 for them so far) Maybe if Mike Smith were added to the multi headed management hydra I could see it, but not Burke. I'm not saying these players aren't good, just that I don't think they are the answer for the Leafs if they want to win.
