Paul Stastny for Tobias Enstrom

Tobias Enstrom

Paul Stastny

Reasons:

Salary:

Avs are just ahead of the cap floor due to Stastny's contract. However they will sign quite a few players this offseason; core ones too. Duchene, RoR, EJ as well as Downie, McGinn and others. Now the Avs will not have trouble with the cap so Stastny isn't a issue. Its just a reason why Avs wouldn't be able to move him this past year but this offseason cap reasons shouldn't be an issue.

The Jets have enough space to hold Stastny's contract and with his expiring in 2 years won't have a problem with keeping him for less.

Roster Reasons:

Avs are build around the future with Duchene and RoR as their top 2 centers. However they need a top pairing guy on defense. Assuming the Avs miss out on Suter, Enstrom gives them that top pairing puck moving dman that would complement anyone on the roster well.

The Jets have a bright future with Burmistrov but could use more center depth. This would also allow Little to move to the wing again. This move not only improves their center depth but their wing depth as well. Their defense wouldn't take as big of a hit since they have Bogosian and Buff to build around heading into the future.

Flame away.

I'd prefer to keep Stastny at least until late in the off-season. The Avs best chance of landing Suter/Parise comes with Stastny on the roster. If they miss out on both and are heading into September with no defenceman capable of being paired with Johnson, then I'd be enticed by this.

Would sure prefer Duschene, but that isn't likely happening. But as a Jets fan, I'm for this trade. Just a little leary until Buff gets his court case done just in case the outcome is not good.

Enstrom is talented, but I don't see the Avs being interested in an undersized offensive defenseman with Barrie and Elliott ready to assume NHL roles.

I know. I doubt Duchene is moved. I'd also much rather prefer Bogosian. But alas, no hope Stastny is my favorite player but he doesn't need to be on the Avs for me to still like him. I also think the Avs need a top pairing Dman in the worst way possible. When EJ is out we are terrible!

Enstrom is a no. 1 dman and him supporting EJ both offensively and defensively is going help out his development too. Not to mention that Enstrom would be the best puckmover this team has had in a long time.

I'd rather have two no. 1/2 centers and two no. 1/2 dman than three no. 1/2 centers and only one no. 1/2 dman.

No offense to barrie or Elliott but they don't hold a candle to Enstrom's offensive and defensive ability. They may, but I don't see it.

Value wise, its probably great.

I think the Avs would be smart to look at signing Suter or Garrison in free agency first and try to continue on with three, legit scoring lines.

I want to keep Stastny because I don't trust O'Reilly and Duchene enough yet to become consistent #1/2 centers. Plus I would hope that Suter becomes a free agent and then try to get him before making any trades.

Tobby isn't an offensive minded defensman, he's as well rounded defensman as they come.

Enstrom is one of my favourite players in the entire NHL, but I like our ability to roll three (if Dutch starts playing like he did in 10/11) scoring lines more.

Given the Jets lack of quality centres, I definitely wouldn't be against this trade.

This would probably be next years off-season trade if we don't get Suter. Hopefully Sherman will want to see if RoR will be an offensive threat next year as well and see if Dutchy can bounce back before he pulls the trigger to trade Staz.

Enstrom is an undersized offensive defenseman, albeit a very talented one.

I don't see why Winnipeg does this. Enstrom is a better player on a better contract.

Of course the person who isn't a Jets or Avs fan is the one who says Enstrom is better. Majority of both fanbases say yes, it's a fair deal. It fills a void for each team.

Actually, a Jets fan hasn't said no yet.

enstrom's contract does look pretty good, and we could use a solid two-way defenseman.

oth, it would be nice to see RoR and Dutchy for one more year before losing a top 2 center

I don't see the value for either side.

If Enstrom doesn't want to stay in Winnipeg beyond next year, he can be had for a lot less than Stastny at the trade deadline or for nothing as a UFA in a year's time. Winnipeg seems pretty happy with Enstrom.

I think Colorado has to wait it out.

Also, does Stastny want to live in Winnipeg because if he doesn't he's not worth very much to the Jets.

I think the Jets also have to wait it out and see how Scheifele pans out in the next year or two before doing anything in regards to the centre position. The Jets have decided on a patient development plan for their team and I think they'll stick to their plan.

From a Jets perspective I wouldn't do this deal. I value Enstrom more than I do Stastny. I also think the Jets could find a better deal from another team for Enstrom (if they think they can't re-sign him). Colorado is best to look elsewhere for their #1 d-man.

This. If we shop Enstrom, we could get a pretty serious bidding war going. D men of his caliber are few and far between.
