This Year's 1st Overall pick (Yakupov) to Your Team [MOD: ALL Yakupov/1st talk here]

Basically what the title says. Where would you put the value of the 1st overall pick, and what sort of a package would you offer to the following possible owners of this pick:

Columbus:
Edmonton:
Montreal:
Minnesota:
Toronto:

To Detroit:
First Overall

To Columbus:
Danny Cleary

I would do it, how ever I don't think Holland would want to move Cleary to a team in the same division.

CBJ would laugh, cry, and then slap Holland.

More like:

To Detroit: 1st overall

To Columbus: Cleary + 2013 1st + Tatar + Smith

And I don't think that's enough either. You're talking about a potential (most likely) game-changing 90pt forward here in Yakupov. Cleary alone isn't even close.

Although I'd rather the Wings hold on to their prospects - if holland just gives Tatar and Smitty a chance I think we'll see great things from them..

Dude really? That's got to be the worst proposal I've ever seen. Cleary is already 33 and in case you didn't notice, his stats in the last few years look like this:

2005-2006 Red Wings 77 3 12 15 5 40 0 0 1 106
2006-2007 Red Wings 71 20 20 40 6 24 6 2 5 135
2007-2008 Red Wings 63 20 22 42 21 33 5 0 3 177
2008-2009 Red Wings 74 14 26 40 0 46 3 0 3 163
2009-2010 Red Wings 64 15 19 34 -3 29 2 0 2 140
2010-2011 Red Wings 68 26 20 46 -1 20 5 0 8 192
2011-2012 Red Wings 73 12 21 33 4 30 2 0 0 198

You'd expect Yakupov to exceed that in his rookie season. Howsen might not be the best GM, but this is ridiculous . And you think Holland would hesitate to make this move??

Oh Lord.

Edit:^^ LOL. Either someone just had the same idea as me, or he really took it serious. not sure.

Just like last night, this trade still isn't worth it to Columbus today either. You aren't getting the #1 pick without giving up another high end player so dream on.

I think that instead of the 2nd round pick montreal would have to add a young prospect like beaulieu for example

Overpayment by the canucks. It would be closer if you change Booth to Raymond and add a 2nd

Disagree. 1st overalls are worth a ton and it looks like Yakupov is on a Hall to Stamkos level. Players like that are very rare in this league.

I think Vancouver would do it even if they threw in their 2013 1st too.

I don't think they'd trade booth. We'd get Yakupov to play with Kesler and Booth on the 2nd line. They'd do it if it was Schneider + Raymond + Schroeder + 2 1sts

I think if the wings added maybe Ferraro it'd be closer to fair value. I mean players like cleary don't grow on trees & Ferraro still has untapped potential. And since they need a goalie we could give them Mccollum.

1st Overall

To Columbus:

Danny Cleary
Landon Ferraro
Thomas Mcollum

Now that's a fair deal that benefits both teams. Done at the draft ofcourse.

Montreal will part with:

Gomez
Kaberle
Bourque
St. Denis
Youppi!
2012 11th
2455 1st rounder (I hear that's looking like a good year)

Prospects are going to have to be a lot better than that.Think your top prospects;
Smith
Tatar
Kindl
Jurco
I know it looks like a lot but since you don't have a 1st round pick in the middle of the draft it is going to take quanity and still what is the chance that any of these players are top 6 or top 4 players.

Nice to see fans like Montreal and TO have junk because there is nothing on their team that would get a 1st over all.
