These guys might be interesting, although most players out of Germany do not come over until their draft year. However Kahun and Draisaitl seem to be best German prospects since Rieder and Kühnhackl, and might actually be just as good.
Damn, we should have Rieder back and Faksa likely. So we probably can't take one of them. But taking Germans has worked well for us before in Kitchener. We're a German town with the second largest Oktoberfest. So keep sending your kids over. We'll help them get where they're going.

If I'm not mistaken, you usually don't see kids come over when they are already playing in a top league in Europe. So it's best to look at kids playing second tier levels.

It's hard to come up with a list but really ANYONE of age is technically allowed to be drafted, it's a huge range.

Steffen was drafted by Swift Current in the import draft last year, but left North America after a few short weeks. It really set the Broncos back, losing the guy they expected to have starting for them for 60+ games.

It's been said it was homesickness that sent him packing.

If the Broncos draft his brother Markus, the two might just come over and play together.

Markus had some decent numbers this season. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=73397

I don`t think Markus will come over and play in the CHL. He has two years left on his contract with Frřlunda in the SEL. However I do believe that Steffens intention is to go over and play for the Broncos next season.

It says that Marcus has dual Norway/USA citizenship. What's the story behind it?

Never seen Kahun but Draisaitl isn´t anything special, mainly poor skater.

Good luck with that.

Let's start the bidding with MacKinnon and a 2012 First (We don't know if MacKinnon will sulk and refuse to play for us).

Speaking of PEI's first round pick (that Gatineau has), I'm hearing rumours of Groulx et al. having found some can't miss prospect who could still be around at 4th. Anyone have any thoughts on who that could be?

Also, I'm looking at the OHL and WHL standings, and something that I've never really thought about came to mind. How does the CHL determine drafting order? I'm assuming that it's based on points, but PEI had the second fewest points in the CHL this season (after Erie, obviously). How is it that their (our) pick is only 4th?

You forget that CHL import draft is actually only a formality. Player and the club are already before this draft in some contract. After it is official.

Sherbrooke the expansion team will pick 1st in both the Import draft and the Q Midget draft, and the reason that PEI picks 4th is cause its Q,O,W and then the same thing. It's different each year.

It's Quebec's turn to pick first, followed by the WHL and then OHL. Last year, the OHL had the first pick, the Quebec league had the second pick and the WHL picked 3rd, every year each league moves up one spot in the rotation.

Ah, that's good to know. I never noticed that the picks cycled through the leagues like that. I had always assumed that it was just based on points.

Still interested in PEI's pick, though?

New expansion team Sherbrooke will have the 1st overall pick.

PEI's pick (4th overall) belongs to Gatineau.

Your right Draisaitl's skating isnt the best but he has great hands and if you put up 192 points in 29 games you must have something special.
Rieder for example had 177 points in 34 games.

So, MacKinnon and a 2012 First it is.

Jánošík says he likely won't be back next year. I'm planning to make a Jánošík retired number banner and bring to to every game until they agree to just retire #3.

Groulx apparently has some can't miss prospect picked out, and rumour has it that he's going to the Czech Republic to meet with him this summer (I guess there's some world-championship deal going on? It's not the IIHF WC,I know that...).

I'm hoping it's a Slovak (I like putting my very basic Slovak to work), but really, I'd be happy with anyone awesome. With a fourth overall pick, I would be very happy with another Pavel Rosa or Aleš Hemský, but apparently there's some ridiculously good 17-ish year old Russian goalie right now. IF we can bring him over, that's our biggest need right now.

So it's the World U-18 Championships. You can tell how much attention I pay to that tournament!

Slovakia isn't even in the top tier right now!
