I dont see another possible outcome! The way Daly and some owners have been speaking, this year was a last chance for the Coyotes. Unlike what some posters have said, I dont even see the NHL accepting YET ANOTHER 25 million dollars bribe from Glendale. They just want out if no owners are found.

No, the Nordiques WILL be there next season. It's clear as crystal.
LOL! I watched the Hot Stove and that was not the case! Be objective guys. Be objective...

This thread is loaded with people wearing rose coloured glasses. I sure hope you get a team because otherwise there is going to be a lot of people jumping off of buildings in QC.

Here's the HNIC Hotstove video:

Quebec City talk starts at 4:06.

According to the video though, that's exactly what they said: when Quebec City eventually gets a team. I guess it's possible they didn't mean this summer and they didn't mean the Coyotes, but it sounded like that.

Well, it's hard to not have rose coloured glasses when you've been waiting for this since the day the departed.

And now, pretty much anyone who knows the situation agree on one thing: Quebec City is in great position to get a team any time soon.

Whether it's this year or within a 3 years span, we are still very excited, not to mention that we will finally get a new arena that we've been wanting for more than 2 decades!!!

Where there is passion, there are rose coloured glasses, indeed.

The thing is: I'd like to hear from TV reporters, if the Coyotes don't move to Qc this summer, what's gonna happen?

The league and the city throw another bunch of money into this one more year?

The league burns 40 to 50M to keep'em ther next year without help from he city?

The club goes elsewhere then Qc? Then where?

The club folds?

When people comment on this, we hear lots of it "Qc city will have a team but not next year" but nothing else. Its fine to be prudent and objective, but too many things are pointing to the capital of beautiful women...

Well well, another interesting news this morning.

According to 985sports.ca, all 30 owners had to vote on a city if the Coyotes had to be moved.

Quebec came out as unanymous.

Here's the translated article:

Is it just me, or this basically the green light for Quebec should the Coyotes move? That basically officially rules out any other contenders, right?

Strikes me as odd, considering the governors only vote on potential owners, not destinations. Probably made up.

Well they may have voted on Peladeau then.. Hard to find a better owner than him right now.

Certainly not coming from the likes of Jamison.

Is it necessary to mention the $4 billion in revenues for Quebecor?

That being said, this seems like an insider information and should be taken as a rumour.

Wasn't this a meeting of the General Managers and not the owners... ?

I don't give any credit to this, it was a managers meeting.

Yea... I understand it's April fool but coming from a news site like 985sports.ca lets say that it is far from being obvious that it's an april fool.

If they wanted to do something like that I would think the title would say "The nordiques are back!" or something along those lines

So even though it was a GM meeting, not an owner meeting, it's not impossible that something was discussed/voted about Quebec. But yes, it has to be taken with a grain of salt since it's more like a rumour than anything.

You don't have to go overboard to have a decent April Fool's joke in the media, and I think that this is exactly that.

They talked about it this morning on the radio, and they specifically said it was not an april fool and they gave details on how Quebecor is ready to assume deficits for the first 3 seasons, and he also mentioned the GM meeting like in the article..

If you understand french at all or for those who do:

http://radioego.com/ego/listen/10639

**By the way, Pierre Rinfret, the one reporting the news, describes the Senators games on TVA Sports channel.

Very brief resume

- Very true they say this is no april fools joke.

- Gouvernors had a vote about this, whitout specifying a date, and all of them would have vote Qc in case of relo.

- In the last weeks, Quebecor media direction prepared budgets for the next 3 years to assume the losses at the Colisee (about 20M per year approx) and they are ready. It would be a "push the green button Gary" thing. (Last sentence wording from me but describes well)

- They make a link between the Habs decision to fire Gauthier and the Qc city situation, probably in an attempt to sign Patrick Roy before Qc city??? Speculation goes on

Seriously? As in they are ready to assume losses of up to 20 million per year, or they really believe that's what the losses would be? Because if it's the latter, I don't see how it would make sense. 15,000 tickets a game at top dollar - they wouldn't be making Habs and Leafs money, but how would they lose 20 million a year?

eh? They never said that. They just said Molson was acting quickly because of the possibility of the Nords coming in and Roy possibly going there. We don't even know what Patrick would decide though.

Seems the 40 suites are really not enough I suppose. Well, they are ready from anything maybe? Taking all and every measures needed to prevent everything? I donno. We are talking the actual Colisee.

This is what Rinfret said.

I doesnt sound that bizarre. They are very very carefull.

New Colisée = 3000+ seats and luxury boxes.

Over a full season, it makes a huge difference between a profit and a loss. But with his ability to generate content on its multi-platforms, I'm not afraid for peladeau.

Seems like a lot to me, this team would have no problems at all grossing 1M per game just from the box office even in the old building Thats only a 66.66$ average price for 15 000 seats

Great summary. If this is, in fact, true. This is very big. I've been saying this for a while, but still, when you add all these small rumours, hearsays, twitter confirmation, we are either going to have the party of our life on Grande-Allée or we're just preparing ourselves to the biggest disapointment ever.

Philippe Cantin also adds that Geoff Molson had and elaborate answer to a question regarding Quebec City, so that makes him think that they are aware of something and they made the decision of firing Gauthier so quickly based on the fact that the Nordiques might come back sooner than we think.

Not enough suites yes but they can't sell them with a high price.
They are small and not luxurious at all
