Englewood and Lawndale are probably the most notorious, but the little village has been a ****show lately.
Little Village is definitely worth mentioning, especially of late. Roseland is where the CPD officer was shot last week. Great city, but there are a crap ton of areas to steer clear from unless you have to be there. All the same, there are some others that have turned around over the course of the last 10 years that are now safe, the area around the UC among them. Once upon a time you didn't want to be anywhere between the UC (or Chicago Stadium) and downtown. Now anything east on Madison is the place to be, game day or not. All kind of started with Johnny's being built there in the late 90's.
thoughts about Mass Effect 3 (without talking about the end of the game and Spoilers)
been to busy to play it, got about 2 hours in so far, heard all the mess about the ending and laughed, then heard that bioware is adding to the ending because of all the outcry and laughed even harder. I guess I hope to finish it before the new ending so I can see what all the fuss is about. I really enjoyed the franchise.

I bought my first ever lottery ticket today. $640 million jackpot was too much to pass up. If any of you want playoff tickets on the glass...you know who to ask.

I'll be your best buddy if you give me luxury suite tickets for a year. 450K.
Does anyone by chance still have their Saturday Chicago Tribune? My dad is in a bracket pool and needs to know what the line on Kentucky-Louisville was in the trib.
Was probably 9. Don't know why the Trib line would be any different than the Vegas line.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Most books were 8.5/9. In my dad's pool, the favorite has to at least push in order to keep the team for the next round, otherwise the guy who had the underdog takes over control of the favorite. We had Louisville, so if it was 8.5 or up we take over Kentucky. But if it was 8 and it pushed, the favorite keeps them.
Canucks fan, don't shoot. I had a question for you guys. So I had a craving for root beer and I found a bottle of Dad's in my fridge (it's freaking great, it's been my favourite since I can remember). I looked it up on Wikipedia and apparently it came from Chicago.
My question is whether it's kind of a local thing where it's beloved in the city, or just generally appreciated. Or not at all.
Thanks.
PS: I know I don't speak for all Canucks fans but I respect the Blackhawks a hell of a lot more than I do the Bruins. JUST SAYIN.
PPS: What is it with shows based in Chicago? They're awesome. The Good Wife, Happy Endings. Obviously, I don't know if they're accurate but I guess a lot of good writers come out of Chicago.
Decently popular, I guess. Never was much of a root beer fan though, so can't really say how big of a market footprint they've got as I've never really stopped to notice.
As for shows in Chicago, just a byproduct of a lot of creative talent coming out of Chicago, especially as there is a big Chicagoan diaspora living all over the place (hence why you usually see Chicago teams with good followings almost every place they visit on the road) and the city making a concentrated effort to attract TV and movie production here.

Since you didn't name the brand, there's not much help to be offered.
It's probably Goose Island (which is the only root beer place I know of in Chicago), in which case, yes, Goose Island is loved all over Chicagoland.
I had no idea that Dad's was a Chicago thing, but now that you mention it, I've never seen it south of Illinois. Never been a rootbeer fan, so never look for it. Only time it's good is when it's mixed with Jaeger, taste like a chocolate shake, it's weird but delicious, and I am not a fan of rootbeer of Jaeger.

The city is giving discount rates to have films produced here. All they lose is the inconvenience passed along to the people that live here (and they don't care). That's why it's happening.
It's called the East Side. Right by Hegewisch. St. Francis De Sales and Washington are the high schools there. You want my social security number too?
Saying I'm from the East Side might not register with quite a few people.
Massive grew up in the Cabrini Green housing projects. He's just makin' sure you're not frontin'. Side note, can't believe they closed Bob and Jacks, loved the beef pocket.
