Upnorth, pink slip, wow you would be a tough Gm! He got this team to the playoffs, you have to give him that? I agree though, the team quit on him and his staff. This team is loaded with talent and he couldn't make it go. How many good coaches has Sarnia seen? Three in the last two seasons and not one couldn't make it work. Too bad for the city and players.

On paper they are a good team but in reality that team has been in shambles all season with injuries. Not many of us have seen anything like what happened in Sarnia this year. JB is under contract I beleive so he gets paid either way. At what point does the Sarnia faithful stop dumping it all on coaches and that is a long list.

Fans in that city were picking JB and team apart in January, you don't see that in most OHL cities they just ride it out. When team gets healthy you then see what you got....Sarnia has never got healthy and it was like training camp at playoff time for one of the most important guys.

The year of the injury.

Bring on Saginaw....the Knight's will give em a real battle. Shalla/ Saad had a lot of open ice to cruise around out there.....that changes now when they get re-aqaunited with Anderson/ Wylychka/ Rupert/ Rupert and keep your heads up.

Let the rebuild begin. AGAIN. The OHL draft is next weekend. I wonder what agents will see Sarnia and trader Jack as a good place to develop there young lads. I hope they don't use this year as a measuring stick.

What was the reasoning for JB not shaking hands with Saginaw's coach? Seems disrespectful and a terrible way to end the season

I can take losing but losing and not shaking hands hurts the face of the franchise. I don't like that at all

Care to explain what unfolded?

Agree with the above.

On a positive note, I felt Thompson, Boucher, Rensfeldt, Murphy, and Galchenyuk had a good playoff series. DeAngelo did as well for a 16 y/o as did Kuzmik and Hopey with there limited PT.

I was at the game last night. Jacques shook hands with the Saginaw coaching staff. Every single move this guy makes (or in this case DIDNT make) is criticized to the nth degree.
I'm curious why some, not just you specifically, think he didnt shake hands. Were you there & looking in a different direction right after time expired? Did the radio commentaries miss it and then say it on air?
He shook hands with Saginaw, end of story.

What a disappointing season that was
I've never been a JB fan at all. And I will acknowledge that injuries were a significant issue all season long. That said I think there were more pressing issues on this team. A lack of cohesion, undefined roles, defensive zone struggles and a host of other things that I can only speculate on but perhaps those within the organization may have to evaluate on. Those are failures as a coach.
As a GM JB may have even fared worse. After years of struggling to acquire depth (on ice and on the draft board) all that was squandered away in a few short months. A GM is supposed to have the best interests of the organizations future. The Spooner, Ritchie/Anderson trades were short sighted and should be reserved for teams on the cusp. At no point this season did this Sting team show that they were that close to contending for a final 4 appearance - on the ice at least. The team you have on paper is not always the team that shows up on the ice.
For all his short comings at least McQueen had the foresight to take flyers on Boucher and Murphy. I wonder going forward if these prospects, their nhl teams or agents/advisers shy away from the Sting franchise. Unlike Windsor, London, Plymouth or Kitchen the revolving door in the front office and its track record may prove more harmful than their on ice record. The goodwill built up by getting elite prospects to show up and then flaming out can only be measured by what is done in the future.
(Strangely enough, I'm advocating a front office change while at the same time acknowledging more upheaval may be detrimental to the team)
The bright side at least is that those same long term injuries this season may be blessings for 2012-13 since Galy and Murphy look to be back. Most of their D will be back. After that there are a host of question marks that need to be answered

Took a Josh Shalla clapper from the top of the cirlce square off the face mask. Helmet exploded off his head. Dropped instantly, and left with injury.

I'm just waiting for more than 1 person to understand what I meant.

Sempron knew what I was talking about...but then again it's no secret as Hope has been on my wishlist since he came in the league.

If I was there then I wouldn't be asking. It was a simple question. Someone mentioned it above and I asked why? Simple as that.

These prospects that joined the sting did very well. Rensfeldt, murphy excelled in Sarnia this season. Boucher was wildly inconsistent but he's been that way before joining Sarnia.
