dont see why nashville would trade a guy that fits well, everyone on the team likes, and has roots in nashville.
that being said, i'm trying to imagine the reaction if someone had proposed a fish-roy swap when he was with the sens. I'd imagine ottawa would have considered it (~20pt upgrade at 2nd line center in exchange for defensive play and grit).
I came in here to say this wasn't going to happen for a few reasons, but I was pretty surprised that the general sentiment was that Buffalo would have to add with any significant other parts. It seemed to me that you sacrifice the aforementioned defense and grit, which Nashville has plenty of, for a piece that when on or not injured can produce nearly a point-per-game, and successfully contribute to your offense at a pretty high level.
Sure, this season has been assy, but he's played 76 games, and you would have to imagine that moving to a contender who could be a near perfect fit would only increase his chances of improving.
I know about the Fisher-Underwood isn't-going-to-happen-ever reasons, and that one is currently out-producing the other, but that's not the established trend, so what else am I missing?

You've pretty much said it even though you've discounted most of it. Fisher's defensive and physical game, along with his good season combined with Roy's poor season and injury concerns makes this a bad 1 for 1 deal for Nashville. Fisher is much more likely to remain in Nashville once his contract is up than Roy as well.
enough with the Roy proposals from the OP please, we know you want to deal him, darcy would make this deal anyways as he is kinda re tooling with youth
Derek Roy to Nashville for Mike Fisher. What would Buffalo need to add to make this happen? Both have one year remaining on their respective deals.
Or maybe a more even deal would be some kind of swap of Roy/Legwand?
Why the hell would Buffalo have to add? Fisher is three years older and the most points he's ever had in a season is 53. Roy has had season's of 81, 70, 69, 63 and last season 35 in 35gp.
