Ottawa moving up in the draft.

I don't know whether it is because I have been watching a lot of the guy, and love his play, or because I have come to adore Swedes in Ottawa, but I want Forsberg. It's looking like he'll go in the 4-7 range, so here is what I offer:

To Toronto:
Ottawa 2012 1st
Ben Bishop
Matt Puempel
Maybe a little more? Doesn't quite seem entirely fair, but I'm not sure.

To Ottawa:
Toronto 2012 1st

Comments on this, or any proposals of Ottawa trading to Anaheim/Minnesota/NY Islanders are wanted.

EDIT: Okay, I am now realizing the absurdity of my proposal. Sorry leaf fans, lol.

Costs more IMO. It's hard to move up that far without giving up something significant now days.

Toronto is more than likely drafting top 6 after the season is done, maybe higher.

If Ottawa gives:

Zack Smith/Nick Foligo
Jakob Silfverberg
1st '12

I'd consider it then.

Not Silfverberg.

I think it's safe to say there isn't a deal here.

In that case, keep adding from Torontos point of view

toronto is the wrong team to be doing this with. They need that "top prospect" badly.

if the sens were to try this, a team like the islanders or anaheim would be a better fit.

Every draft has a drop off at some point. That does not mean there is not quality talent available in the top 10 spots.

After the third pick we'll see the first drop-off. If you recall our Top 50 prospects list, our Top 3 (Yakupov, Grigorenko and Forsberg) are the only prospects I graded in the "A" range. That's the cutoff for what I consider the elite prospects this season. We see the next drop at the No. 10 pick, and that drop appears to be a significant one, but that does not mean teams picking later in the draft will not get a quality prospect.

There is always hope for nailing down a top prospect later in the draft, even more so in a year when the general consensus is the overall quality is down from other years. Another positive about this draft is there appears to be a clog of defensemen and centers, excellent building blocks for teams that may be facing long-term development and rebuilding plans.

Better chance Leafs move up. Why would they move back that far for garbage?

Leafs 4th overall (if they drop a spot to the Wild) plus Holzer for 2nd overall could be a deal I see Burke doing.

Or win the draft lottery

And that would depend on who finishes 2nd overall.. If it's the Habs I highly doubt they have any interest in making that deal with Burke.

not saying you're wrong, but every year, every fanbase thinks they will only consider moving up, yet every year the same number of teams move down as up.

Toronto is going to take quantity for quality. It's not happening. They have plenty of quantity.

When has Burke moved down? You should know this. I mean everyone does. Burke has the biggest mouth of all GMs and is always talking about moving up.

as i've said, it doesnt make sense for toronto this year, but it's funny to see fans of 30 teams every year insisting that they would never move down. Just something to keep in mind.

That's a good point. I personally think there is more of a chance that the leafs trade this and next years first rounder to move up to get a grigorenko or galchenyuk then moving down and getting another second/third.

Burke is just crazy like that.
