Chicago has been the best team in the NHL in march, considering their schedule and playing without their best player.

Johnny Oduya: trade deadline acquisition of the year?

So many haters on that one. I hope they're all enjoying the crow, he's been great. Screw the future 2nd and 3rd.

To think one guy (Oduya) is responsible for this....is beyond ridiculous. Completely ignores the great play from Stalberg & Sharp, Kane & Hossa, Shaw, Kruger improving, entire defense corps, goaltenders....etc.

Didn't say he was the only reason but he has helped this team and made the Hawks better. Without Oduya the Hawks would be playing Lepisto, O'Donnell, and Olsen during this Duncan Keith suspension. We really needed a depth defenseman that is good all around and Oduya brings that. I shutter to think what would have happened this year if Oduya wasn't acquired. We might be in 9th right now.

Yea, they finally got rid of Toews' dead weight and then really took off.

I think it's mostly a case of effort level. It clearly didn't seem to be there during the losing streak. Last night was a good example. The Hawks outworked the Predators for a big chunk of that game. When was the last time that happened?

Yea, toews is an overrated leader clearly. The team loafed around when he was there. He's gone and all of a sudden, the effort is 10x better. We should trade him for two first round picks and future considerations, we clearly don't need him.

Just channeling some of the common attitudes about players around here.

Haven't seen anyone indicate that about Toews around here. He's the last player that giving a full effort every time out is a problem for.

I didn't say attitudes about toews, I said "players".

The Stanley Cup isn't won in March. I am more curious to see how they do in April.

I actually agree with that statement in regards to one player, Patrick Kane. I think not having Toews during the stretch run has forced Kane to step up and hopefully Kane can keep it going once The Captain is back.

Could also be that Kane is simply more effective as a center these days.

Posted in the GDT but Kane should stay at center when Tazer comes back. Stalberg-Toews-Sharp. Would prefer Kruger moved to wing on 3rd or 4th line.

Stalberg & Oduya took over this team in March.

Honorable mentions.

1. P. Sharp
2. B. Seabrook
3. P. Kane
4. M. Hossa
5. Goaltending
30. Powerplay

All the above carried the team

To leave out the grit that A. Shaw and Bollig have brought is beyond crazy. Because of them, we are not only able to roll 4 lines, but we get to see guys like bickell finally finishing checks because these guys apparently have rubbed off on him. The softness of the team prior to that made me want to turn the games off.

Feels a lot like November did

Kane, Bolland, Leddy, and Crawford all stepping up

Keep it going through April and great things will happen

Oduya has been pretty dismal since Keith went down...
