Well that sucks, at least the Oilers have a couple extra guys and won't be adding someone from OKC for the injured Peckham. Wonder who the Oil are looking at out of College this year.

Thanks for the updates. I remember watching Garnet Exelby on the Thrashers--always a bit of a goon.

Glad to see MPS and Pitlick developing; it seems like they're having strong games.

So the Barons have signed a fellow by the name of Mike Marcou to an amateur tryout. I wonder if anyone has some sort of scouting report on him. He's a 5'11, 158 lb Dman out of UMass. That's a pretty small stature.

Those Hockey DB heights and weights are from when the players are first listed and looks like they never change heights and weights .Marcou is a excelent skater who makes a goood first pass out of the zone. He has a good shot from the point and is good on the pp finished 9 in scoring in Hockey East for Dman with 21 points.Marcou plays with a lot of heart and competes he should do well and he appears to be bigger than what hockey DB has him down for .On OKC web site have him170 LBs He also has a brother James that plays in San Jose system

There´s some info about Marcou. Seems to be a pretty good skater (according to colman...who already replied in here, too).

Not sure that he is really going to be any better than the guys that will be coming from Junior soon. This is obviously just a depth move for now.

OKC Barons vs Milwaukee Admirals 3/30/12

Healthy scratches: Ryan Lowery, Kirill Tulupov.

Injured scratches: Kevin Montgomery, Taylor Chorney, Curtis Hamilton, Andrew Lord (will he even play 1 game this season?).

If the Barons pick up even one point tonight they clinch a playoff spot.

The Milwaukee Admirals are the second best home team in the league.

Alex Plante is back in the line up tonight. Sounds like he will be paired with offensive Dman Bryan Rodney.

College free agent Defenseman Mike Marcou to a ATO contract gets into his first game tonight. Paired with Colten Teubert.

Yann Danis gets the start in net.

Alex Plante jumps in for a blast on net in the opening shift of the period.

The announcer accidentally called Anton Lander "Lanton". Could be a new nickname.

Dylan Yeo takes the first Barons penalty. They kill it off.

Milwaukee putting on a lot of offensive pressure in the first half of the period.

Teubert takes a hooking penalty but the Barons kill it off.

Milwaukee continues to dominate zone time in the OKC end.

OKC scores to make 1-0.

Goal scored by Antti Tyrvainen with the lone assist to Anton Lander.

Anton Lander won the face off, then worked the puck around a defender and fed the puck to Tyrvainen who scored on a nice shot.

OKC heads to their first power play of the game. Newcomer Marcou getting some man advantage time on the point. They fail to convert on the PP.

The Barons penalty kill goes back to work for a third time this period on a Hunter Tremblay hooking penalty. Tanner House busts in for a good shorthanded scoring chance. They kill off another one.

It is a penalty fest. The Barons go to the power play with just over 30 seconds left in the period. So it will carry over to the second period.

---

Mark Arcobello gets set up right in the slot but fires the puck just wide of the net.

Yann Danis with huge save robbing an Admirals player.

Ryan Keller busts into the slot but gets hooked up and draws a penalty. Barons get another man advantage. Some decent pressure on the PP, Cornet rips one and makes the goalie make a nice save. Lander got the puck in the slot as well but then lost the puck in his feet and they clear it. Hunter Tremblay gets robbed on a hot shot in the slot. The man advantage again fails to convert.

It is all Barons now as they are coming in waves at the Admirals early in the first half dozen minutes of the second period.

A Milwaukee player zipped into the Barons zone and tried a spin-o-rama and at the end of his spin he swung around just time to see Alex Plante in his face as Plante blasted him down to the ice.

OKC scores to make it 2-0.

Goal scored by Tanner House with assists to Anton Lander & Antti Tyrvainen.

Lander has a 2 point night going and so does Tyrvainen. Though the announcer was just talking about how Tyrvainen can be an adventure in his own zone sometimes.

The Barons on the PK once again. The Barons kill it. Then they take another penalty and then before that one ends they take yet another penalty and Milwaukee gets a partial 5 on 3. Anton Lander steals the puck for a quick shorthanded scoring chance. Amazing the Barons are still perfect on the PK tonight after giving up tons of power play chances to Milwaukee.

Score is still 2-0 for the Barons at end of two. Shots on goal are 25-20 in favour of the Admirals.

---

Seconds (23 seconds in) into the first shift of the third Milwaukee streaks in and wires a shot past Yann Danis to cut the Barons lead in half.

OKC scores to make it 3-1.

Goal scored by Tyler Pitlick with assists to Mark Arcobello & Hunter Tremblay.

Zack Stortini gets into a wrestling match with Anton Lander and Colten Teubert in to get at Stortini and it turns into a scrum. The only penalty out of the whole deal was a charging penalty to Stortini. OKC back to the PP. Milwaukee kills it.

Cameron Abney tries to get Stortini to go to answer for the charging hit on Tanner House (Lander jumped into his defense on the hit initially), but Stortini wants to part of it it would seem.

Alex Plante gets a roughing penalty for going up to Zack Stortini and just punching him in the face. Stortini just took it and did not engage him. OKC going to the penalty kill once again. They kill it off.

Antti Tyrvainen streaks in on net and forces the goalie to come up with a big save.

Milwaukee scores on a deflection that apparently Danis had little chance on and the Admirals cut the Barons lead back down to a one goal lead at 3-2.

Alex Plante on his first shift after the penalty above high sticks an Admiral player and cuts him open with the high stick. So Milwaukee gets their hundredth power play chance and it will be a 4 minute PP. Hunter Tremblay takes a hooking penalty so Milwaukee gets another 5 on 3 penalty in this game. The Barons kill it off. The Barons PK has been amazing tonight and they had to be with this many penalties.

OKC puts on some immediate offensive pressure once they finally get back to even strength. The Barons draw a penalty of their own and the OKC power play goes back to work.

Milwaukee pulls their goalie when the Barons ice the puck.

OKC holds on to win 3-2!

Three Stars:
1. OKC - Y. Danis
2. OKC - A. Tyrvainen
3. MIL - K. Henderson

Milwaukee had nearly 9.500 fans in the building tonight. The Barons clinch a playoff spot tonight.

I recall team 1260 played the Barons' playoff games last year; I wonder if they'll do the same this year?

Hey ODH or anyone else, correct me if I'm wrong but..

Rodney - Plante
Marcou - Teubert
Yeo - Helmer
Tulupov

That's the current healthy defense corps.?

One would imagine that if Petry and Smid are out, Barker would draw in and Teubert would get a call up.

Marincin might be able to get some games in now that Regina is ousted. Davidson as well if not for his shoulder separation.

Yeah that is correct and as you say substract Teubert from that line up now.

Yeah for sure I do not see why Marincin would not get some time in if he shows up soon.

OKC Barons vs Grand Rapids Griffins 3/31/12

Healthy scratches: Cameron Abney & Mike Marcou.

Injured scratches: Andrew Lord, Curtis Hamilton, Kevin Montgomery, Taylor Chorney.

Colten Teubert was called up to the big club.

Offensive defenseman Bryan Rodney is starting to finally settle in nicely with the Barons. He has 4 assists in his last 3 games and 6 points in his last 5 games.

Yann Danis with the start in goal again tonight.

Alex Plante with a nice solid hit early.

Ryan Martindale weaves his way in for a good shot on net.

Grand Rapids scores on a back door play to take a 1-0 lead.

The Barons take a too many men on the ice penalty. So the PK that went 10 for 10 last night goes to work for the first time in this one.

Grand Rapids score on the too many men power play and take an early 2-0 lead.

The Griffins just keep now and they drive to the net to make it 3-0 now. Just over halfway through the 1st period now.

Todd Nelson takes a time out. I am sure he is saying time to wake the **** up boys!

Tristan Grant takes a boarding call and a scrum results with some angry Griffins.

Bryan Rodney with a rush that started deep in his own zone, he deked around a couple guys and fed Hunter Tremblay in the slot for a dangerous shot on net.

---

Kirill Tulupov with a couple nice moves coming into the offensive zone and then rips it wide of the net after he worked his way in.

The Barons head to their first power play of the game. Magnus Paajarvi cuts into the slot for a couple chances on net. Tyler Pitlick gets a shot on net. Barons do not convert on the man advantage.

Tanner House gets set up in the slot for a dangerous scoring chance.

Anton Lander sets up Tyrvainen in the slot but he could not handle the pass.

Antti Tyrvainen with big hit you could hear booming over the PBP mans microphone. Then he hits another guy who was pissed and was trying punch him from behind and Tyrvainen goes right back after him and gave him a little stick work (high stick) and apparently the Griffins player speared him back and Tyrvainen was bent over for a bit. Both get penalties but the Grand Rapids player gets 4 minutes to Antti's 2 minutes. Grand Rapids takes a too many men penalty halfway through the Barons PP so they get a partial 5 on 3.

Barons go back on the power play again. Paajarvi with a good scoring chance, followed by another from Josh Green. Tyler Pitlick turns on the jets and cuts in to the front of the net but not only shoots it over the net but right out of play. Hunter Tremblay with another excellent shot from the slot and the Griffins goalie comes up with a big save. Power play is over.

Bryan Rodney rushes into the O zone and feeds a shot/pass the slot to Tristan Grant for another scoring chance.

Some back and forth play with nothing of note to report.

Grand Rapids with a 2 on 1 break and they score on a cross crease pass and that is the hat trick for Chris Minard. The Griffins now lead 4-0 and this one is getting out of reach in a hurry.

Martindale/Grant/Helmer/Cornet all a -2 so far tonight.

Shots at the end of two are 23-18 in favour of Oklahoma.

---

I missed the 5 minutes of the 3rd period. The Barons scored during that time to break the goose egg.

Goal scored by Tanner House with assists to Anton Lander & Antti Tyrvainen.

Score is 4-1 now.

Not sure what happened exactly but Antti Tyrvainen got into it with someone and out of that scrum jumps in and gets into a tussle, sounded like a fight but they did not give out fighting majors. Anyways there are 3 penalties handed out and the Barons end up shorthanded out of the deal.

Grand Rapids scores on the power play for their second PP goal of the evening (think the Barons might be missing Teubert who has been great on the PK lately). The Griffins once again increase their lead by four goals and the score is now 5-1.

OKC busts in on a rush and score to make it 5-2.

Tanner House scored the goal with assists to Alex Plante & Anton Lander.

House (2 goals) and Lander (2 assists) both have a 2 point night going so far. That is also 4 points in the last two games for Lander.

Some back and forth play without much happening.

The blow out continues with Grand Rapids now making it 6-2.

Tristan Grant with a big booming body check along the boards.

Rodney/Plante/Lander/House all amazingly a +2 on the evening so far.

Paajarvi with a speedy rush and shot coming down the wing. He has 4 shots on net tonight so do Lander and House.

The announcer mentioned that Todd Nelson's song Colton is in the middle of championship game on a hockey team in Oklahoma right now.

Antti Tyrvainen with a nice set to Tanner House who comes very close to getting a hat trick but the Griffins goalie makes a nice save.

That is all she wrote as the Barons go on to lose 6-2.

Nearly 8 thousand Grand Rapids fans in attendance go home happy.

Any thoughts on Antti Tyrvainen's potential to play in the NHL?

I love his compete level, his ability to get under opposition's skin, and how he consistently finishes his checks.

What I don't love is his tendency of making poor decisions in his own zone. He will get it along the half boards in his own zone and blindly throw it in the middle of the slot rather than chipping it out, usually results in a turnover and scoring chance against.

He also takes a lot of penalties, but that comes with the territory of the way he plays.

He gets good PK time, and has shown some chemistry with Lander. Recently shown some offensive upside. The odds are against him imo, but a good summer might result in an opportunity next season.

With the Pats out of the playoffs does this mean Marincin and Davidson will join OKC?

Odd that a guy who had tendency of making poor decisions in his own zone would get good PK time.

For some reason on the PK he keeps it simple for the most part, but even strength he always tries to hit the guy in stride and be a little fancy, which if he connects leads to a good breakout with lots of speed. But if he doesn't, then all bets are off at that point.

He is also one of the few that is willing to consistently throw his body in front of the puck. He helps the PK out a lot by blocking shots from the point.

He didn't get many minutes on PK until the O'Marra trade, so he hasn't been a permanent fixture there for the whole season.
