Colon was awesome. And it looks like he's gained even more weight from last season.
And how absurd is it that the Mariners and A's both have to play more Spring Training games after playing two regular season games in Japan? Bud Selig is out of his ****ing mind.
The trade of the Bobby Abreu from the Angels to the Indians will be a boost to both teams once it's finalized. And to Abreu, as well.
The deal, which is expected to be completed soon, helps Cleveland, which has a paucity of outfielders following the injury to longtime Indian Grady Sizemore. It helps the Angels since it was clear he no longer fit on the roster once Kendrys Morales showed he was healthy and ready to be the starting DH. The Angels have Mark Trumbo in reserve, as well, so they are plenty deep, and it became hard to imagine how Abreu would get any at-bats there.
The deal may benefit Abreu most of all, though, since he was not ready to adapt to a deep bench role and wants to play two to three more years to enhance his Hall of Fame chances. This is the last year of his contract, so he needs to show he has something left, and he wasn't going to be able to do that with the Angels.

Bobby Abreu was a very, very good player in his prime. In an 8 season span from 1998 to 2005, he posted WAR totals of 6.2, 5.9, 5.8, 4.9, 5.2, 7.1, 4.8, and 4.6. He was one of the most underrated players of his generation, partially because he played for the Phillies before they became a top-tier franchise.
That said, Abreu has absolutely no shot at making the Hall of Fame.

Moyer starts 2nd game of season at Houston for Rockies. At 49 will be oldest starting pitcher ever on major league Opening Day ros

Huh? Are the Rockies really THAT short on SPs?
I actually think some organizations prefer starting their veteran pitchers on opening day or at the start of the season.
I know the Twins will let Pavano take the mound opening day when Liriano is our 'ace'.

show the statue, you *****. i want to see it light up so i can laugh.
You'll have to wait until Wednesday night......apparently the Marlins brass decided to wait until Opening Night before unveiling this beauty in all its glory!
nothing from mlb. dui is more dangerous than ped's because it actually can affect other people...yet, nothing from any of the blowhards who wrote thousands of words about how much of a jerk bonds/a-rod/etc are.
so that's how many? mets bullpen catcher, jenks, bush, now martinez. so that's 4 and the season hasn't even started. last year we had adam kennedy, miguel cabrera, coco crisp, austin kearns, derek lowe and shin soo choo.
this is more important than some jerk taking drugs that he thinks makes him a better baseball player! ****ing hell.

I agree. This really needs to be a stiff penalty like some sort of suspension or major fine. It's a very serious and potential life threatening topic. You would think after other players have died driving drunk or speeding (Mike Darr, Josh Hancock) other players would be more careful.
