Marchment vs. Kasparaitis

Both were hard hitting Defense men during their playing days. Both played on the edge of what is legal and what isn't. But who do you feel was the better hitter?

Kasparitis was the better hitter if you wanted an defensive defenseman who could take opposing players out of the play with a devastating legal hipcheck.

Marchment was the better hitter if your goal was expressly to cause ligament tears on the other team's players by sending him out on the ice to use his knee as a weapon.

Although Kasparitis wasn't exactly an angel either, Marchment was one of the dirtiest players of his generation.

Kasparitis would occasionally catch guys low on hip checks and of course get into it with players in the corners and in scrums, but I never felt like he was out on the ice deliberately trying to injure other players like with Marchment.

It's actually almost amazing Marchment's career was as long as it was.
