Dubinsky and Anisimov need to show the f up for games. Stepan needs to get his head out of his backside and go back to being his old self. Richards and Gaborik (other than his goal) were ineffective. Bad game overall by Del Zotto.

Props to Marc Staal, who played a good game in both ends. McD was good too.

Outmuscled and outhustled.

Anisimov can go to Columbus for all I care.

Entirely too many Potvin sucks chants during the game.

Anisimov hasn't been great, but Stepan has been BAD. Not surprised people on this board play favorites, though.

Can't believe he missed that chance when Thomas handed him the net.

Oh well. Obnoxious loss, but still confident we can get first in the east. Just hope everybody not named Marian Gaborik and Brad Richards can wake up in time for the playoffs.

We lost to a really good team who has a pretty good goalie. You really thought we would take 3 out of 4 going into this season against the Bruins? Better they beat us now than in the playoffs.

Really wanted it tonight. A lot of work from the boys for about 45 minutes tonight I'd say, just not the normal payoff they're used too.

Still frustrating to have to wait another game.

Whatever. Staal had a monster game.

As I said in the GDT, you can't win 'em all. We played well enough to win.

We rarely get outworked, but tonight happened to be one of those nights. I thought Staal and McDonagh were our best players tonight. Stepan and Anisimov need to get their heads out of their ***** and step up. Didn't lose any ground today and the magic number is still reduced, so hard to be too angry about it. I wanted to get Biron a game Tuesday night though.

Strong first period followed by two crap periods. Too many give-aways, couldn't hit the back of the net, a very win-able game which we lost.

Would have loved to have clinched the East tonight but we'll get it soon enough, it is our destiny.

Yep. Staal was a beast.

Girardi, not so much. Hope he got an assist on Bergeron's goal.

I thought they came out strong. Coasted at the end of the first. Played a decent 2nd and try to turn it up in the third. Boston played well. Hopefully these games this week teaches this team to play 60 minutes.
Did Prust play in the third?

Couple of interesting notes from the game.

1. The switch of lines late to try to separate Gaborik from Chara, followed by Chara beelining off the ice. I've never been a fan of player matchups but it worked for Boston this game.

2. Our inability to beat a hard forecheck applied by Boston. Most of our opportunities were from the outside and nobody was in the right positions for rebounds.

3. The power play struggled mightily to get the puck in, then once in to get it off the boards. Combine those two and it creates a very ineffectual PP. Our team was seemingly finished after Boston killed off the two straight penalties.

I though Boyle played a good game but he had most of the net to shoot at and hit the post. This team does way too much of that.

No offense and Lundqvist continuing ****** ass play, we'll have a hard time winning 1 playoff round. The defense was good, Lundqvist was not. That second goal was **** and the announcers agree with me. I don't care about Girardi ****ing up, bottom line his **** up ended up in a nothing chance and Lundqvist gave us loser goaltending. The type of goaltending that will have us playing golf soon since we're not a high scoring team. The Flyers and Penguins can win with goaltending like that, we can't. The offense was probably even worse than Lundqvist, but we're not an offensive team. We rely on our Vezina caliber goaltender to win games and he let the team down.

Stepan, Girardi, and Hagelin all had terrible games tonight.

Torts should really consider putting a more physical presence on that first line. Hags was getting outmuscled all night, panicking with the puck, and generally making weak passes/boneheaded plays. I don't think effort is a problem with him, but he is playing completely out of his depth. Too much too soon for him.

Stepan was absolutely dreadful all night. He shouldn't be centering that second line. He is not a great forechecker and looks painfully slow. I wouldn't be adverse to playing him as a wing on our third line. I think we may need to reunite the BAR line.

Girardi had some boneheaded plays that lead to all the goals the B's scored. However, he seemed to settle down a bit in the second period. Course that could be that the B's switched to a soft forecheck and were content to clog the neutral zone.

Overall, not a terrible game by the team, just not that inspired. We looked outstanding in the first period. We were skating and passing great. Course I think the idea was to blitzkrieg the B's in the first and then lay back to save our legs. It didn't work and the Rangers looked exhausted come the third period.

WTF is everybody crying about. Boston won because of a lucky fluke goal and their goalie made all the saves he had to.

Sound familiar? We've been winning the same way all season.

Rangers had a great game IMO. They pressed. They hit. They pinched.

19-3 in the 3rd period. The 34 shots is the 2nd most the Bruins have allowed in a game this month -- 18 games total. The shots werent flubbs either. Rangers had some really good scoring chances.

I loved the way they played tonight.

Staal is back. I guess i can calm down for now.
