Based on ROW, Colorado in the event of a tie would have fewer regulation/OT wins than Dallas. Their magic number now only reflects the need to tie COL rather than earn one more point than them.

Can't believe people are already giving up .... It's far from over.
Needing to win at least 2 and likely 3 of the final 3 games isn't a good indication that it's far from over. A more accurate description would be it's probably over unless the team has a third miraculous turn around this season (The first 11 games and just before the trade deadline being the first 2).
I get the posters on HF jump to doomsday scenarios and that a loss last night didn't eliminate them. However, it's impossible, IMO, to not consider the manner in which the team conducted themselves in such an important game.
I do want them to make the playoffs. I'd love for that to happen, but just ignoring what happened last night as a off night is not realistic IMO. SJ is likely a better team ... but SJ didn't win last night just because they were the better team.
Dallas played selfish, undisciplined, and care-free hockey in Game 79 which could have been the last major step in guaranteeing a playoff spot by Tuesday night. That situation dictates a certain level of play from a professional hockey team if they are in fact a playoff team.
I haven't seen one person upset with the team for losing. The issue is clearly their preparedness for that game and their conduct during it.
Theres always a hope as long as they can get ahead of SJ because that team is very prone to playing like crap. They could easily go 0-3 to finish the season. Hell all 4 of the pacific teams in the running are known to go on crappy runs where they lose to teams they have no business losing to.
After three years of let downs don't expect majority of Stars-fans to believe in anything. They might be the most prone fans to throw players under the bus and see everything negatively. Kind of a Scuba Steve -community
I still believe that they will make it because i tend to be pretty optimistic in general. After the trade deadline when Stars were in winning streak people called me naive when i posted that Stars will have a positive boost of GMJN not trading Ott and/or Souray But that's how it is back here.
Stars will win SJ 3-1 and just like that they are in. SJ will lose at least one game in regulation to Kings and Dallas will win St. Louis in the last game ==> enter playoffs. You red it here first.

You forgotten that the Coyotes have three matches to end. Two of them are pretty easy (Columbus and Minny). SJ & LA will share the points so your prediction does't work like your typing results
