...the young ones really don't get it, do they. Yes, he would eclipse both of them. He outscored their paces in a far lower scoring era, at a ripe old age. He would lead the league in scoring every year that he was healthy.
Everybody drools over Jagr on this site and I've heard it said many times that he's better than Crosby was, or has proven more than Crosby, or that they're at least comparable - and other things to that effect. Well Lemieux was definitively, without a doubt, nobody in their right mind would question it, a better hockey player than Jagr.
And this is coming from a guy who thinks Crosby is great.
Crosby before his concussion was on pace for over 140 points...
You think Lemieux could do that in todays league? Maybe I dont know, but I honestly doubt it

Teemu Selanne is the leading scorer on the Ducks at 42 yrs of age. During Selanne's peak season ('92-'93), Selanne scored a ridiculous 76 goals and 132 pts. In that same season, Mario Lemieux was diagnosed w/ cancer, missed 24 games, got radiation treatment, came back and finished off the season with 69 goals and 160 pts in 60 games.
So, a cancer-stricken Lemieux w/ a bad back and fatigue from radiation treatment significantly outscored a prime Selanne. If Selanne now, way past his prime at 42, is still one of the best scorers in the league, then it would be a safe assumption that Lemieux in his prime would still be absolutely dominant. He would score 140pts or more multiple times in today's league.

To expand on this, in the 2000-01 season a 35 year old Lemieux came back to the NHL after a 3 year absence and scored 76 points in 43 games. That's a 1.767 PPG, 144 pts pro-rated over 82 games. The GPG that season was 5.51. Last season, Crosby scored 66 points in 41 games. That's 1.610 PPG, 132 pts pro-rated. The GPG that season was 5.46.
So Crosby's best statistical season isn't even as good as one of Lemieux's worst.

but, but, but, I watch hockey from 2001 and it is like OHL compared to post lockout hockey
