If anything this just motivated this team to become even closer and take it to the pens in the first round.

It's simple. Send Shelley out there next game and tell him to do anything within his power to knock Vitale's block off. Snyder can cover the costs of the fines after the fact.

Weight class-fighting experience shouldn't matter. If Engelland can fight a 27 goal scorer like Simmonds, and Asham can sucker punch a 185 rookie like Schenn, then no one can complain when Shelley throttles that ******* Vitale.

What's the point? If you're gonna send Shelley out there to go after someone with disregard to fines or penalties, shouldn't it be Malkin, Crosby or Letang he goes after. They could probably really LEGALLY punish Letang with some violent forechecking.

Forget about Vitale, i would send out Shelley against Crosby. But wait he'll never catch him. Ok so send out Shelley against Baby Huey and make him pretty.

this pens team is the hypocritical boy who cried wolf.

Remember last season when Cooke single-handedly ended careers or long stretches for players? But, somehow Mario and company managed to whine and whine and whine about the Islanders playing that rough game.

How many times has Bylsma complained about us this year? I read what he said the other night about the cheap shot from Schenn to Crosby. Rewind and see the Crosby crosschecked Schenn first.

Then the game is out of hand for them and they send their goons out against one of our decent (not best) lines.

Best part is, how Pens fans are crying about it.

Karma sucks. Perhaps their precious Sidney wouldn't be concussed all the time if they didn't do what they do on the ice all the time.

Malkin punching Couts in the face yesterday, etc.

You want to call us cheap and dirty - I say we live up to it next time. I continually grow more and more annoyed with everything about the Pens. Their announcers complain about everything, Mario is a hypocrit and Bylsma sits around and points fingers year after year even when someone like Cooke is on his roster.

It's just enough.

I would have no problem if Shelley or Rinaldo hunted down Malkin or Crosby, but that would probably mean some pretty severe repercussions. A guy like Vitale is a dime a dozen, and wouldn't really be missed if he got crushed. Still sends a message...
Of course, if you have the chance to hit either Crosby or Malkin, you do it. But it would be pretty risky to go out of their way to injure either one of them.

Look, unless it's a spinal bruise, a bruised lung, or something of that nature, he would be playing with the bruise. They're either resting him, or hiding the severity of the bruise. But a bruise is just a ******* bruise, he could easily play through it with no detriment. Just hoping it's not a bruised lung.

I'm hoping this is all just a ploy to motivate the team and get the fans fired up. Would have loved to see Danny fake his own death only to make a miraculous return in game 7.

Yes, they should recognize the situation and not skate with their heads down.

You play hard to the end and you defend your own. No issue with what Bylsma, Vitale or Laviolette did. Briere got what you expect when you try to get cute in the middle of the ice.

Someone just made a great point on Twitter...

Though let me say first Crosby > Briere

Imagine the Briere/Vitale situation except it's Crosby/Rinaldo...clean hit at end of game on a player with concussion problems.

How would the Pens/NHL react?

Yeah, I hope they are just resting him as well. It's too bad though, the Simmonds-Schenn-Brière line has shown some positive signs lately.

So true. Judging by how afraid the refs are to even call penalties on the untouchable Crosby/Malkin combo...I'm sure the Mario and the NHL would throw a fit if that happened. Clean hit or not.

Crosby and Malkin 100% get special treatment. You can easily see it. The only obes that deny it are Pens fans which is understandable. They will never say anything to accept that. They have to defend their team even if its against the truth.

I agree with this. It was a solid hit, and Brière took it and got right back up. Had it not been against the Pens, and we'll be facing them in the playoffs soon, I doubt it would have been such a big deal afterwards.

Idk...aside from the PA rivalry, think about the roots of the hatred towards the Pens...the crying, special-Sid treatment, etc...

Saying that, read above.

Had one of our "grinders" did the same, clean hit to one of their elite forwards in a lost game during the last minute, what kind of reprecussions would we face?

I agree with sir Flyersmania. There are some rivals I have respect for, and some I have no respect for. The Penguins fall into that category, for the reasons you mentioned and more.
