Kubina is a Plug

I am very disappointed with his play. To look how to play and be pyhsical when coming onto the Flyers, look no further than Grossman.

What upset me the most yesterday is that he had Asham and did nothing while Asham was throwing haymakers right into Schenn's face. Kubina didn't even wrestle Asham away. He did NOTHING. What a fricken plug and he's rubbed me the wrong way so far. He's twice the size of Asham, was the biggest player on the ice and did nothing. Fine, don't fight but at least jump on the guy when you see him throwing fists at Schenn

Come on. Watch the reply again. He has a good hold of Asham and his face doesn't change, his movement doesn't change. Nothing. Zero reaction. You at least try if you care for your teammates or care for the Flyers.

I wish he would catch Malkin on the boards like Hatcher used to do.

You do it once or twice and Malkin is thinking twice.

Overall I am a little disappointed. Not agressive enough.

He beat Josh Gorges' ass pretty good that one time. Maybe he just needs to get mad enough.

Kubina plays like most defenseman who are getting towards the end of their careers.
He does not throw those devastating hits anymore and he rarely plays with a nasty edge. He is just too busy keeping up with the speed of the play.

It happens to everybody. When was the last time Chris Pronger crushed someone or got under their skin using his world famous cheap shots before he got injured?

Kubina is still solid 3rd pairing material, a Veteran presence, but hasn't that much left in the tank. Obviously, Paul Holmgren noticed that earlier than the fanbase - that's why he also brought in Grossmann to eat the bigger minutes.

Meh. He's better than the options we had. Not every player is going to exceed expectations.

I tell you one thing, I'd much rather have him out there than Lilja, Gus, and Bourdon

Kubina can hold his own. I know he should have been a little more aggressive, but the guy is new to the team, doesn't really know the guys like Schenn and Briere well enough to risk injury or go the extra mile... just my take. He stood up for Jagr, but that's likely because they have been friends to quite a while (Czech National Team etc..) If anyone says otherwise, then they obviously have never played on a hockey team. On the outside, guys all seem to like each other, but inside the room there are always guys you like more than others.

have to say i was little dissapointed too, he should have helped schenn.. but take it from other side, he didn't go down to pens level ( how deep it must be?) and didn't fight a 2v1 .. tho i would love to see him go berserk and tell pens NO

6'4 260 slavic guy going berserk would not be a pretty sight, that's for sure I think he would have destroyed Asham, if though Asham is a pretty tough guy too.

im quite sure he wouldn't have problems with any pen, if he wouldn't slip or something like that

I think the key to triggering Kubina's berserker mode is to get a Penguin to harass either Jagr or Voracek Then, just sit back and watch as sparks fly.

People saw 6'4" 260 and expected a bruiser, and he's never been that. Been harping on that since before the trade deadline. I had hoped we got him for the RH shot more than anything, but we haven't utilized that either...

Definitely this. I wouldn't be surprised if Kubina isn't fully fit, at least he doesn't look quite as comfortable out there since he came back from injury. Let's hope he picks his game up now that Grossmann will be out for a while though.

Basically this. He's good enough for the rest of the year, but after that I don't see a spot on the team for him. Although I do wish they played him on the PP. Half of his career goals our on the PP and I remember him having a bomb when he played for Tampa and Toronto.

Independent of the trade, I think he is what he at this point of his career. He's an above average 3rd pairing d-man.

I don't think he's worth what we gave up for him though.

Disagree. He used to play with some fire. Going after big guys like Keith Primeu. He needs to put his weight into Malkin and Staal.

He's as physical as Coburn so that doesn't say much.

"Lets hold him along the boards instead of hitting him".

Still don't understand the lack of PP time.
