No one's goona buy that .
In the past twenty years, no team has received as much for a goalie as we have.

Halak got better return than Roy, Rask, Hasek, etc.

Like they did with Emelin. They forced him to spend the season in the KHL.

This is what I don't understand.

Show me a trade, featuring a goalie as a trading chip, that garnered as good of or a better player than Eller.

A potential 50 point two way center for a potentially top 10 goalie in the NHL is highway robbery.

And if you say the Luongo trade I will subsequently laugh in your face.

NO ONE is wishing Price injury or malaise. Some of us are just happy we have a chance to solidify our position in the cellar. Price easily has the ability to steal games to himself, and given the competition the next 3 games it was not completely out of the question Price could steal one, or all of them with some luck. It's unfortunate under the circumstances, but atleast if you have to draw a positive out of the situation you can look at that. Which is all some of us are saying.

Odds are it's a very minor concussion (if any) and he'll be back up and running normally in no time. No need to put us up on the cross and set us a blaze.

I'm not Gauthier's biggest fan, but I think people grasped onto any pathetic straw they could to attack him with.

Halak was sold at his peak value, we got more in a trade than anybody else has gotten for a goalie in decades, we got the young blue chip offensive center prospect with size we desperately needed and a decent throw in as well, and we kept the better goalie.

Finally: I think Eller is a potential 60 point center, reaching 70 points in a career year.

how old is he again? You don't think this year, will see.

He got alot of road ahead.

Say what you like, just go over to ST Louis Blues Hfboards, ask if they would trade

Halak for Eller

Let me know what they have to say .

You do understand they are playing for Hitchcock right? The man is turning Brian Elliot into a "top 10 goalie"

I want to see one of them on the leafs before we put them in the HHOF.

Which has alot to do with many players.

Martin Brodeur played his career in Columbus , he'd be just another goalie .

Eller is an excellent return for an RFA goalie.
The Flyers were the only other team in the market I could have accepted to trade away Halak to, unless the Sharks could have come up with better than the Flyers could back then. It would have been an epic return considering that the Flyers are a team where goalies' careers go to die.

Varlamov for : first round pick in 2012 (15ov) + second round pick in 2012 (45ov).

Timmins could have transform those picks in Gold. But still, maybe those 2 picks will never make it to the NHL. Eller was a great aquisition for a goalie. Nobody else got that much.

Eller was a recently drafted 13th overall pick, and NHL ready.
Ian Schultz a recently drafted 3rd rounder

I think our package is better because we got Eller as he was NHL ready, Washington had to wait a full season before they could even make the pick and then have to wait for him to develop.

Except Price is a better goalie than Halak. Take the irony and stick it you know where.

Thing is we could have got more for Eller but Eller was the perfect fit for our team.
Pleks future replacement.Getting the best deal isn't always the right move .Getting the right piece for the future for your team is much better and Eller was that piece.
