Get the kid signed and see what he can do. Its incentive so that he doesn't wait until next season to sign. One game isn't going to kill us. Plus a 6'3" 230 lb forward with great speed is very difficult to defend

Kreider follows more Rangers than BC players on twitter. Ryan Callahan has his tweets protected. He determines who follows him after he receives the request. Kreider follows him.

I'd prefer 14 and I'd like to see Hagelin reclaim his college number 12. I hate oddball numbers

Kreider wore #18 in high school which is taken by Marc Staal

#18 in high school. #19 at BC. #20 seems like the next #.

Yeah, #20 would be my guess. It certainly served him well at the WJC!

No way, the refs will see 16 and still think it's Avery. He'll get made up penalties every game.

After BC is eliminated. They play Minnesota on Thursday, and if they win they go to the championship game.

I'm sure Hagelin will change his number next season. Most players who are mid-season call-ups on NYR wear random numbers. Girardi was #46 (I have a Girardi #46 jersey, lol), Callahan was #43. Some examples... Although I think McD took #27 right away, so maybe it depends.

to recap his chat on nesn.com:

-wants to be like eric staal at the nhl level
-keeps in touch with wjc players (avoided my mention of step)
-avoided mentioning the rangers/answering rangers related questions
-enjoying being on the pk and blocking shots

The date of the chat was changed. It was supposed to be on Tuesday. Probably because BC is traveling to TB tomorrow

BC hockey sent out a tweet earlier today about the chat being today

Hagelin discussed his number around the time of his call up. He chose 62. He said he's keeping it.

Elliot Friedman in his 30 thoughts comment suggests a potential issue with signing Kreider.

If Kreider plays in the final on Saturday night he may not be done until 10pm, the same night the regular season ends. For playoffs, players have to be signed before the end of the regular season. Typically this paperwork takes 24 hours to complete and so the league will have to make an exception for the Rangers. This is something that other teams/GMs may not be happy about. It could be tricky.

Interesting.

Active Roster definition in the CBA

Quote:
"Active Roster" shall be determined as follows: Commencing on the day
prior to the start of the Regular Season, and concluding with each respective Club's last
NHL Game in a League Year, Active Roster shall include all Players on a Club's Reserve
List who are signed to an approved and registered SPC
, subject to the provisions of
Article 11, and who are not on the Injured Reserve List, Injured Non Roster, designated
Non-Roster, or Loaned. A Player who is on a Conditioning Loan is included on a Club's
Active Roster. During Training Camp, a Player shall be deemed to be on the Club's
Active Roster only if he had been on the Club's Active Roster after the Trade Deadline in
the preceding season on other than an emergency recall basis.
NHL games definition in the CBA

Quote:
"NHL Games" means Regular Season Games and Playoff Games.
Article 11 deals with the SPC

11.5 Filing and Approval Process.

Quote:
(a) An SPC or an Offer Sheet will be deemed to be filed with Central Registry
only when it is actually received by Central Registry. A Club shall file an executed SPC
or an Offer Sheet with Central Registry by hand, facsimile or electronically, in
accordance with Exhibit 3 hereto (provided that any electronic version of the executed
SPC must have the optically-scanned signatures affixed thereon).

(b) Central Registry's records regarding all aspects of its receipt of an SPC or
an Offer Sheet, including, without limitation, the date and time such SPC or Offer Sheet
has been received by Central Registry, shall be final and conclusive for all purposes
under this Agreement absent written or other recorded evidence to the contrary. In the
event there exists such written or other recorded evidence contrary to Central Registry's
records, the NHLPA may challenge Central Registry's records pursuant to the provisions
of this Agreement.

(c) A Club must file an executed SPC or Offer Sheet with Central Registry by
no later than 5:00 p.m. New York time on the day following the day the Club has
received the executed SPC or Offer Sheet from the Player. The Club must also file with
Central Registry, within seven (7) days thereafter, three (3) originally executed
counterparts of the SPC, and shall also deliver one (1) originally executed counterpart to
each of the Player and the NHLPA.
The Rangers can fax/email the SPC to Central Registry. Date and time recorded. It doesn't have to take 24 hours. Teams have until 5pm the following day to file the SPC. They don't have to wait until 5pm.

Kreider's contract won't be a difficult one for either party. Max salary & signing bonus. Done.
