easy win imo, the only way you dont is if by some tragedy hall and RNH die.
Is everyone forgetting that Hall needs shoulder surgery? Its gonna take him a while to rehab from that major surgery. I dont see him having that great of a year next year.
Hartikainen scores 2 and we have Stu for GM thread.
Not saying Stu sucks but our later round picks have not be as 'magical' as we seem to think.
Petry and Eberle are the only non top 10 picks that may have a 'good' career..
After those 2 we have Greene, Stoll and Brodziak's level of players drafted in the last 10 yrs. Nothing to write home about..
LA has landed Visnovsky, Cammallari, J.Tambellini, J.Quick, Simmonds , Voynov, Clifford etc in the later rounds in comparison.
Stu has been head scout for only a few years. He wasn't the guy in charge when Greene, Stoll, Brodziak and Petry were picked.
Later round picks also take longer to develop as well, Hartikaninen is merely early returns under his watch. His late round track record is yet to be determined, and it will be a few years yet.

He can to some degree be judged on his early round picks as soon as next year. That's when we should see some separation amongst the picks. MPS should start to show what type of player he really is, as should Lander.
BTW, who was the genius that picked Nash and Plante, was that before Stu's time?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that MacGregor wasn't hired as head scout until September 2007, which would've been a few months after those two guys were picked.
IMO his first draft where he was in control was when the Oilers picked Eberle.

Whew, those were two ugly picks. One guy refused to come here and one couldn't skate. Great DD.

That is correct. (Insert pic of shirtless Chris Farley here)
Yeah, 2007 was Prendergast's last. They traded up to get Riley Nash haha.

Not really
Hall, RNH and Eberle are all tracking as stars, and only Eberle was picked in an area of the draft that is boom/bust. MPS had a tough season, but is clearly behind the other players in his development and needs a few years to find his balance and become effective, his struggles do not indicate a bust or bad pick yet.
Lander, Hamilton and Pitlick are primarily defensive players without much offense, they have years of development learning the pro defense disciplines required to be NHL players ahead of them.
Kelfbom, Musil and Marincin are showing potential, but none of them have played pro hockey, and have a long road ahead of them before they are NHL defensemen no matter what.
It'll still be a few years yet before Stu's real ability is apparent, and it will be muddled quite a bit by his opportunity to make easy selections at the top of the draft early in his tenure.
