It's probably too late for you to catch him in Calgary. He's been out with an injury so far in the playoffs and they're down 3-1 in their series with Brandon. Something tells me he won't be back with the hitmen next year.

Edit: just saw they made it 3-2 now in their series with the last 2 games in Calgary. Rask is still out, though.

Ya I know, I can still hope tho lol.

I wonder what his chances are of playing for the 'Canes next year? Put him on a line with Skinner and Dadanov. They'd be hockey's equivalent of Hanson haha

i watched a bunch of hitmen highlights on the whl site, he looks good but its probably too soon to expect an nhl player next year. he is big and smooth, and positionally a very smart player. skill level high enough to make a lot of nice passes and he has good vision. reminds me a bit of stastny stylistically, a guy who will play well with other good players but maybe not a big stud on his own. finishes in tight but doesnt shoot from very far out. hes a legit prospect, but i think at least a year in the minors awaits him. i like him, but he shouldnt be rushed.

Thankfully, since he was Europe based when we drafted him, he can be in the AHL next season. Ideally he should be in Charlotte as soon as Calgary is eliminated (assuming that's this round) since they seem to be extremely short on talent down the middle right now.

He seems like he'd be a prototypical centre of Dadanov. Guess we'll see

Well, he's hurt. And it seems rather significant since nobody is saying anything. I'm thinking he's done for this season and we'll probably next see him at training camp.

Those are some really good looking stats from ALL of our goaltenders... We definitely DON'T need to draft one this year, IMO.

I'm of the opinion that you generally should be drafting a goalie every other year at least. But with what this organization has right now and with two really nice picks there the past couple drafts we don't need one this year, that's for sure.

Hell, we have 10 picks this year, assuming we keep all of them (which we won't) if we don't use at least 7 on forwards this year I'll be highly disappointed.

Andersen turns 23 this year. Wonder if this is the summer he comes to the Checkers.

One of the Swedes who kept us up to date through the year on him has said that there's a rumor that he's agreed to a contract but it hasn't been made official yet.

I say give him one more year in Sweden.

Muse and Murphy take care of Charlotte next year, with flavor-of-the-week ECHL goaltender coming in for emergency situations.

Let Peters head somewhere else, he'll be an NHL player, but not here.

Ward and Boucher with the Canes. Year after that, one of the 3 (Muse, Murphy, Andersen), take the backup spot, with the other two fighting with Mahalak for AHL time. This is, of course, pending any sort of trades or anything. We might trade one of them or let one of them go to make room for others, but right now with the way Muse has been playing this year I don't know if bringing Andersen over is urgent.

Unless, of course, the rumor that Boucher is gonna retire is true. Then, I say we let Muse, Murphy, and Andersen fight it out in camp THIS year.

Muse is not our prospect, unless I missed him signing a 2-way NHL/AHL deal. Not really sure why his name is getting thrown around here like he's in the pipeline.

Solid year in Charlotte? Yes.
Current Canes prospect? No.

I do that every year with the best prospects under contract to Charlotte (and Albany before them) even if they won't end up signing here. In part because (especially with this org) there's generally a lot of communication between the front office and the farm team in who they want to get a better look at.

Any word or indication if Osala will be flying over the big pond and coming back to the Canes Organization?

Fair enough, must have forgotten from previous years.

Mikko Lehtonen (the Bruins pick back in 2005) tweeted that he and Osala had signed 2 year deals to go back to Espoo. But since the tweet was posted on April fools' day...

Has anyone heard anything (whether a rumor or valid information) on Dumoulin? Maybe I'm just getting paranoid, but with all the Justin Shultz talk, I'm starting to get a bit concerned about the Canes being able to sign him.

Not going to lie, I'd kinda look forward to the board reaction if we didn't sign Dumoulin.

For me, at least for THIS year, it'll be a "wait what is he thinking? he has nothing left to prove at the NCAA level. meh, we have another year to sign him".

Dumoulin's team (BC) is up 4-0 on Alt's team (Minnesota) after 2 periods at the Frozen Four. Alt has looked pretty crappy and Dumoulin looks solid as always. Barring a major comeback, it's going to BC vs Ferris State for the national title. BC will be heavy favorites.

6-1 dismantling by BC. Minnesota was clearly outmatched, which is surprising because they have a lot of talent on that team.

Here's hoping that BC beats Ferris State.

I think that if that's the case, Dumoulin heads down to Charlotte for the playoffs. But more importantly, that he realizes he's proved everything at the NCAA level and decides to go ahead and stay in Charlotte for next year and skip his senior year.
