Burns has gotten a lot of flack, but his defensive numbers have been quite good, much better than most expected.
However Vlasic is, as said, one of the best in the league.

I agree, and I said one time before that Burns is MUCH better defensively than we had been led to believe.

it is because he was coming from a team that needed him to be a top offensive player, not a great shutdown player.
you do not get picked for team canada (very rarely), if you do not posses some kind of above average defensive game (forwards and defensmen). meaning that if need be you can still play in any situation asked of you and not look out of place.
