Heika apparently brought in questions asking why he wasn't trading this guy and why he wasn't making the team better and why he wasn't doing this/that/etc.

I'll look if I can find the blog post about it. Will give him credit in that he came back a day after and said he made a mistake. Don't know if he ever got any quotes out of Joe.

Tonight their best players have to be the best players on the ice. Make it work Ribs, Loui and Ryder!

Stars win 4-2. Goals: Goligoski, Morrow, Burish and Eriksson.

God, would you guys please stop with all this pessimism ffs. We have time to do that all offseason. As long as it's possible to make it, you gotta believe it, especially as it's this close. There is nothing I hate more than this loser/giving up/bashing in on own players - mentality.

Unfortunately I'll miss this one again. Come on STARS!

If they don't start off the first 5 minutes with their "hair of fire" tonight, and they scratch Rielly again then it's going to be catch up night on the old DVR. Have a few "It's Always Sunny" episodes to catch up on.

Not playing Reilly Smith tonight is not the same issue as not playing him Saturday because Nystrom is back, and Dvorak is a game time decision (but expected to play).

On Saturday, Smith was pushed out be Petersen which is absolutely absurd. They've had zero faith in that guy all year, and they hadn't played him in over 15 games. Plus, he played 4 minutes. He was never going to contribute anything in that game.

We can cry all we want about Morrow not being in the Top 12, but he's clearly not getting a healthy scratch this year. That leaves benching Vincour or Smith. Vincour clearly isn't going to give you an offensive boost, but he's extremely reliable in a defensive role as well as not turning over pucks. It's not shocking they'd prefer a safe player like Vincour over the potential for offense of Reilly Smith.

Yes I'd love for them to bite the bullet and bench Morrow, but that's just not a realistic option.

Finally, stop with the burned year moaning ... please ... unless you've got some good reason this has hurt the team. He's controlled by the team for the exact same number of years, and him not playing right now actually makes glovesaves idea that this could save them money more likely.

Heika's thoughts on this, whatever that's worth:

I believe Joe Nieuwendyk really believes that Smith can help the roster right now. However, he is not going to tell Gulutzan how to coach.
I agree with that, Joe doesn't seem to me like he'd be a micromanager, which is what he'd be doing if he's telling Gulutzan what the lineup will be.

If you believe in your player then you need to tell your coach that. Les Jackson was all hands off on Eriksson for the better part of a season before he finally said, enough is enough, and forced Tippett's hand.

GMJN is the final decision maker and he doesn't get to hide behind, "I have to support my coach." It's not like he's deferring to Hitchcock, Quinville, Tortorella, or any other Stanley Cup winning coach with a legit history. Gultuzan hasn't earned that much respect.

Don't think any of them went into the city. Has all been on the outside.

Am sure the Stars will announce something within the next hour or so if there will be a delay.

I think that was the Lancaster/Dallas tornado IIRC.

If you want to see something cool ... you should look up the video of the Arlington tornado throwing tractor trailers 100 feet in the air.

Looks kind of like the one in the pictures I saw, I think you're right.

That was pretty wicked. Glad no one got hurt (I think) in that, that could've been awful.
