Anyone seen Nic Kerdiles play.

I like what I hear and read, could be a target late 1st.

First round should be best player availabe, and in the 2nd round I'd like to see Gillis take a defenseman

Thats generally a tough decision at the end of the first round, BPA doesn't always stick out like a sore thumb.

NHL Central Scouting has released the top ten draft picks in each league - note they are listed alphabetically and not by numerical ranking. That ranking is to be released for North America and Europe - skaters and goalies on 09 April 2012.
As promised, here are the top 10 players Central Scouting ranked in each league. In order to maintain some level of confidentiality, the players are listed in alphabetical order.

Keep in mind, this is the closest thing you'll get to a finalized list until the actual release of the "Big Chart", tentatively scheduled for April 9. The number beside each league represents the projected amount of first-round picks from that league's top 10.

I feel the opposite way, just look at our last two first round picks. Schroeder and Jensen were expected to go much higher, it was a no brainer for Gillis on both occasions.

Dear Mike Gillis..... Please Draft Dalton Thrower

From what I have read this kid is slated to go late first round or early in the second, he models his game after Bieksa and they are similar in size. Another mobile d-man who is a good fighter would be awesome to have plus this kid has the best name in hockey, Dalton Thrower and he throws

I know the draft is a few months away but I thought I would let it be known that Dalton Thrower is the guy for the Canucks

A sign we shouldn't draft him, perhaps?

i live in saskatoon and have seen thrower many times. i would be upset if we picked him. similiar to how i would have been if we had drafted colton gillies. he cherry picks his fights. he doesnt really wow with skill. skating is average same with puck skills.
i really dont understand the hype. he isnt that great.
also he was a key part of the blades last two post season meltdowns when they were swept. oh and bad penalties.
i really really hope we steer clear of him. and people dont get blinded by the fact he is a bc boy much like they did with colton gillies

I'm not sure Shroeder was a no brainer. I was excited about the pick at the time but he was over hyped in a bad way. He was a small guy with attitude problems. Not many 5'8 players are drafted high for a reason.

Drafting him is a risk, forget the first round.

At the time it was a terrific pick.

What about the 18 goals he scored.

Thats a pretty good total for a draft eligible defensman in the WHL.

I think he has oodles more PRO potential than Gillies ever had, I think that can be easily discerned by looking at their goal totals in their draft years (I believe the d-man outscoring the forward 18-13 favours the d-man).

He may 'cherry pick his fights' (I dont believe he does...fought Kramer out of Spokane, a legit WHL tough guy, and Tom Wilson the undoubted toughest draft eligible player at the Prospects game), but isn't that exactly what Bieksa does?

A well reputed poster on the prospects board has dispelled the bad penalies and the 'brain farts' that plagued him in years gone by. His game has improved hugely from the start to the finish of this season.

Watched a bit of their last game. Frk looks good with Nathan MacKinnon, made a better impression than in games before but still wouldn't draft him. Then again, I could turn out to be very wrong one day.

Grenier looked pretty good too in that game, for whatever it's worth. I'm hoping to watch them more in the 2nd round.

For late picks were we're at I hope Wilson is available, this draft is such a crap shoot for a late 1st, I wouldn't mind adding a kid who might be a Neil type player.

Why not get one in the later rounds?

I know you don't really mean it, but this just sounds like something Grapes would say.

its just my feeling. i have only been wrong once about a player who i have seen this often. that was mike green. didnt see him scoreing more in the nhl then the whl. but his game is hardly without its warts. much like thowers bff sutter i want the canucks to stay they heck away from those two. there is much better available. but based on gillis and his need for high end charachter i dont think we will end up with these two

Nothing much in the late 1st, Wilson looks like he'll be a solid Neil like 3rd line guy, this is the draft you can take that player with a 1st.

Or get one later.

Guys that have intrigued me lately.

Scott Kosmachuk, RW, Guelph, OHL.
-30 goals in the OHL, will play at the U-18 for Canada

Nic Kerdiles, LW, USDP
-good skater, protects puck well, smart.

Raphael Busierres, Rw, Baie-Comeau, QMJHL
-good skill, lots of determination, not afraid to mix it up.

It's a weird draft. I think they are all 2nd rounders, but I think this draft has 40 or 50 2nd round talents.
