Well I don't think we'd be able to get any high profile d-men to sign here during FA so if we want to sign a d-man I think trading for a d-man's rights is about the only way we're going to get one. I think Carle is a solid top 4 PMD and would help us out quite a bit.

I've heard Philly fans complain that he's overpaid at nearly 4M per season. Not living up to his hype.

Why would Carle be more inclined to sign with us a week or two before he hits UFA? I just don't think its worth trading a pick for a UFA rights.

unless you intend to make him an offer so good he can't refuse I can't see trading for UFA rights, and the only time I'd want to see us overpay like that is if we're hopefully one player from a serious Cup run.

Well if not Carle then who do we target via either FA or trade? I don't care what anybody says, we definitely need to bring in a top 4 d-man this off-season. I consider Suter or Weber to be entirely off-limits as they wouldn't want to sign here and because trading for their rights would cost more than we'd be willing to give up.

Yeah, but with the same group almost...Schultz wasn't able to look good at all, so still a great trade.
