It is. That's why it says "clinched the conference" on every official headline as opposed to ECC

WOO HOO!!! So freaking happy this race is over!! Congrats to the boys on a GREAT year!!

Now, that said it means NOTHING if we don't show up in the playoffs. The real work begins NEXT WEEK.

But until then...

LETS GO FREAKING RANGERS!!!!!

The one thing that bothers me is that if this team does go far in the post season, then Its gonna really tick me off to see and hear the media suddenly start caring about the team. Can't wait for the Lets go Rangers statuses on Facebook from people who have no clue what a face off is. I can see it now "OMG Rangers up by 2 in the 3rd quarter I luv this team LGR!"

They can have the biggest bandwagon in the history of sports for all I care, as long as they win the cup.

couple thoughts...

1) most important...great job rangers!!!! congratulations!!!!

2) didn't dan bylsma (or however you say it) say the #1 eastern conference would come down to the april 5 game against nyr? (i thought i remember him saying that not too long ago)...if true....YOU ARE WRONG!

3) nhl.com had the rangers clinching as the 3rd of the top 5 stories...and then got bumped out of that once pitts won...uhh show some respect, this is huge and unexpected!!!...just looked again #2 out of top 5....thats better, not perfect but better

We're the Regular season eastern conference champs. It's nothing not to be utterly proud of though. Lets win the president's trophy. If this were soccer we'd be the champs!

This is what I wrote on the main board:

BTW, even though I started the "just give the Vezina to Quick" thread if there's any game that shows why Lundqvist deserves the Vezina it's this one. Facing the second best offense in the league he makes miraculous save after miraculous save. His stats suffer by having the 2 best offenses in the league in his division. And the top 4 offenses in his conference. Meanwhile Quick gets to pad his stats against the likes of Phoenix Coyotes. The best offense in his division are the #16 ranked San Jose sharks. Hank has been giving up softies in March and his game has dropped off (though not today) and Quick has stepped his game up. But if there's ever a case for Lundqvist's, today's game was definitely it.

I may seem bipolar, lol. However, I love Lundqvist. I just wish he didn't have these long stretches of sub-standard play.

Don't worry, the media coverage of the Rangers will definitely come 3 days after we win it all and then they'll realize they forgot about it and the bandwagoners won't jump on until the very end and by then, we're all too focused on hockey to care. problem solved

This is the proudest I've been of this team since 94. Feels sweet to do it with all these young home-grown players.

What a great season. Fun to watch and extremely satisfying.

agrossrecord on twitter...

Lundqvist with a big ice wrap on his right forearm. Said he lost some feeling, tough to grip stick. Biron, no doubt, Thursday at Pittsburgh

Meh, bandwagon fans from playoffs help grow the sport. I know people give Pen and Cap fans a lot of crap but it's good for the league and a NY team having a great season is even better for the league.

Seeing this for the first time. lol. God. The refs should be ashamed. The reason why the refs blew tonight is all because they're trying to keep eyes on goons like Rinaldo. If the league is going to fine coaches for insulting the league, they should start fining refs for insulting the league with their incompetence. But no seriously, I will enjoy seeing the Penguins and Flyers clash this post season. Maybe a couple of players will get their ***** kicked and remember it for the upcoming season.

Lost in all the talk about clinching the conference, is we need to bring these out:

Good: Hank
Bad: letting our foot of the gas in the second.
Redden:
Giroux selling that high sticking call has to be first.
Also think the refs were disgraceful at some points of the game.

Things I would like to see over the next 2 games:

1) Henrik be healthy and no other injuries
2) Henrik get his 40th win
3) Callahan get his 30th goal
4) President's Cup

That flyer poster Nitroglycerin must feel pretty stupid. I remember he was running his mouth a couple weeks back.

I was going to post something, but I am not going to antagonize the flyers main board(I don't enjoy kicking someone when they are down).

But that guy should probably eat some humble pie.
