I found a "Good" for Kevin Sylvester:

Mentioning Foligno should of been standing for his interview.

In reference to Marcus's dirty sweaty jock strap hanging in his locker in the background... haha.

Roby had no idea what he was talking about. lol ...

He was like... Why?

Ummm I think it's defensive to say that there's "no debate". I mean, MAYBE the ref never lost sight of it but I certainly did. And I'll bet you a nickle that YOU lost sight of it. And most people lost it. Soooo very debatable.

puck was under Lombardi .... when its under a player that isnt the goaltender ..the whistle does not have to be blown right away. Puck wasnt under him very long ... Leo poked it out...

it was a good call..for a strange situation of the puck being in front of the net for that period of time with nobody getting a handle on it.

I watched it three times. Ref is right on it. There's nothing defensive. It just went on forever but that's no excuse to call it dead. Happens in corner all the time and no one cares.

I forgot the TV camera was right on top of the play like the ref was.

Just got home. Was behind the net for the 3rd period and OT.

Holy jumping ****ing ****balls what a game.

Foligno will be a captain one day if he keeps this up. What a game, what a fight.

Sekera had a real tough game.

Sulzer had a few redeeming goals but was **** all night in his own zone.

Komi is a ******.

Miller made a few great saves but was kind of shaky.

FES is just...I dont...wow. What a line.

U: The fair weather fan next to me who left halfway through the 3rd and said "I'm not coming back." only to show up mysteriously after they tied it.

SportsNet central just showed the whole play again and it's clear ref is on top of it the whole time. Not sure why the ref was practically in the crease himself but I'm glad he had position for sure,

Might as well have them put the "C" on the front if you're ordering the Foligno jersey. It's inevitable.

LOL, TSN singling out Grag's blowing coverage for two Ducks goals. Is Sulzer-Grags a trade that hurt both teams?

Seeing Foligno and McNabb next to eachother in the box, both for fighting and in general kicking Leaf ass, was awesome.

He's in the crease because nearly every Leaf was there too. Why hang back? Every player on the ice was in front of him. That was absolutely the right positioning and the right call. If they blow the whistle in that situation you encourage a team defending the lead to just collapse into the crease and fall on the puck. As stated earlier, if that were on the boards, they never would have blown it down.

I don't have the rules in front of me, but I'm pretty sure the "lost sight of the puck" rule applies when the ref believes the puck is covered by the goaltender, not a skater.

The Best -

- Being there. This ranks right up there with the 4-2 comeback game when Briere scored to win it back in '07, perhaps even more so.
- Foligno. I loved that Komi call him and a-hole right before the draw and then they had the run in the corner, followed by Marcus taking it to the net. He set the tone early, showed up like this game mattered and he was playing like it throughout. It seemed some of the vets didn't know how to follow his lead, but lead he did. Big hits, strong play in both directions, a fight that got the crowd rocking... just awesome.

The Good -

- Finding a way to win.
- Dyson with two important goals? Holy crap.
- Alka Sulzer with redemption.
- McNabb and Tropp being energetic and playing like it matter (along with Foligno) early, rather than going through the motions like a lot of the vets early.
- The ref who got into the crease to see the puck.
- Regehr on Kessel later in the game. He took away time and space and most importantly the puck repeatedly.
- Miller had some huge saves early. This could've been a blow out for the Leafs at the end of 1.

The Bad -

- Worst period by Rej since he sat himself. Major stinko.
- Sulzer had some defensive gaffs. Thankfully he recovered.
- Miller on the Frattin goal. Really Ryan... that ***** got to be stopped.
- I thought Gerbe stunk tonight. He was ineffective and just accomplished nothing, even in the extra shifts he got away from McCormick/Kaleta.

The Ugly -

- The d-zone play without Myers and Ehrhoff is rough. They don't transition well. Thankfully, the FES and LRP lines provided enough pressure on their own via forecheck most shifts to make up for it.
- Can't keep playing this way and expect to win.

Haven't read a word from anyone else yet so this is my base reaction w/o any insights applied.... I am simply stunned that they actually pulled this game out since it had classic Buffalo "choke" written all over it.

Sabres were out of synch almost the whole night.... or most of the game except mid way thru the 2nd, the start of the 3rd and at the end.

Pass were off, pucks bouncing off sticks, over skates, reach backs, stick plays that failed to strip the puck away. You know, their standard stuff when they are too tight, playing w/o a lot of confidence or not prepared for what's being thrown at them.

Yet, they managed to over come all of that to take 2 points! I really don't know what to make of this team right now.
Very Good:
Foligno - what a beast,
Ennis - once he got it in gear
Roy - even though he disappeared some shifts, he brought it when he had too
FES as a line - moments of brilliance, intensity and pressure.

Good:
Leino - worked his ass off - show time for little reward
Stafford - other teams are showing him respect and he's getting more room to work in. Also, stuck his nose into scrums (easier to do when you know Marcus has your back). I appreciate the effort
Poms - could see he never gave up
Hodgson - played hard - wish he'd scored on that slapper from inside the blue line. That's his shot and he had room short side.
Tropp - played hard - took a beating and kept on ticking

Fair:
Miller - closer to bad on some goals, outstanding saves at other times
Sekera - thought it was his worse game in a while
Leo - but I will take the goal
Vanek - could see him trying hard, he's obviously hurt

Bad:
Sabre's defensive play overall... everyone forgot whatever they all committed to doing. D zone coverage and support seems to be taking a step backwards.
Weber - scared me every time he was out on the ice.

Honorable mention: McCormick, McNabb

I don't know where to put Sulzer because I now know there are 2 Sulzers on this team. The good Sulzer - who scores goals and makes good defensive plays. And the bad Sulzer who can be a bonehead which results in other teams create opportunities to score goals. I gotta say however that w/o his offensive contributions tonight, we don't win this one. I leave it to you guys to come up with something catchy to distinguish the good Sulzer from the Bad Sulzer. (Anikin Zulzer/Darth Zulzer?)

Too many distractions watching this one at the bar: so I'm pretty sure I missed key elements of some of the play.

Next two are going to be a lot tougher and they better be prepared from the opening face off.
GO SABRES!!!

This isn't Montreal.

They were jawing before the puck drop and Komi called him an a-hole, pretty clearly. They took the run at one another in the corner and then in the scrum, Komi was giving him the stick across the head while laying on him. Foligno yawed with him all the way over to the benches after that goal - it was awesome.

lol. Foligno was livid before the puck dropped. Something other then a-hole had to be said. Kid officially took charge in this game.

Was great to see.
