11-12 Minor Signings and Re-Signings (ANA: P.Maroon)
According to capgeek, the Flyers have signed Matt Ford to a one-year extension. Ford, 27, has 25 goals and 50 points in 64 games split between Hershey and Adirondack. Ford was originally a draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks (8th round, 256th overall) in 2004. He has signed a one-year, two-way extension with a cap hit of $600,000.
Rumors that are still unconfirmed have Columbus RFA-to-be Maksim Mayorov signing a deal with Ak Bars Kazan. Columbus beat writer Aaron Portzline figures Mayorov may have an NHL out clause but doesn't expect Columbus will re-sign or even qualify Mayorov.
RFA Ondrej Roman of Florida, who was acquired from Dallas in return for Angelo Esposito, has signed with Vitkovice of the Czech Elite League. Roman, 23, had 2 goals and 7 points in 40 games split between Texas and San Antonio of the AHL. Roman was a 5th round pick of Dallas, 136th overall, in 2007.
Poorly-translated link here (I especially like the part where the translation misunderstands the term farm team and says "Last worked in San Antonio on a farm in Florida..." No wonder he only had 2 goals. ) http://moravskoslezsky.denik.cz/krat...-vitkovic.html

Back when I was really really young that's exactly what I thought a farm team was. I thought you played in a farmer's field until someone phoned the house looking for you.
Can we open up a new stickied thread for players signing overseas?
Makes it easier to track and I remember HF did this the past couple years
I don't feel like maintaining a separate thread for guys with NHL deals signing overseas this year, they're all listed amongst the Free Agents in Posts 1 and 2 of the Free Agency thread stickied on here as well as the teams they've signed with.
Carolina also re-signed Bobby Sanguinetti to a 1-year, two-way deal worth $700,000 at the NHL level. I actually half-expected he would be cut loose with all of Carolina's signed defencemen (Faulk, McBain, Pitkanen, Gleason etc.) and incoming defencemen (Murphy, Dumoulin) but Carolina seems pretty high on him.
Quote:
“Bobby had a very strong second half of the season with Charlotte,” said Francis. “He has put himself in a position to challenge for a spot on our NHL roster this season.”
Ron Francis, Director of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Nicolas Blanchard on a two-year, two-way contract. The deal will play Blanchard $525,000 per season at the NHL level, or $105,000 per season at the minor-league level, with a guarantee of $125,000 per season.
Quote:
Blanchard, 24, completed his fifth full professional season in 2011-12, scoring nine goals, earning 12 assists (21 points) and accumulating 103 penalty minutes in 68 regular-season games with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
^ the Canes haven't had a real enforcer or bruising forward for quite some time now. That may be the intention behind Blanchard's contract. Even if he doesn't have a bright future, he can do spot duty and fill a role that we otherwise lack.

Ron Francis, Director of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Justin Krueger (KROO-guhr) on a one-year contract. The deal will pay Krueger $600,000 on the NHL level or $90,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level in 2012-13, with a guarantee of at least $105,000.
The Washington Capitals have re-signed goaltender Dany Sabourin to a one year extension, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Dallas has signed Christopher Nihlstorp to a 2 way contract per Mike Heika. (Our beat writer at the DMN)
Though he (and Blair Riley also mentioned above) are technically too old to be considered for the Calder and not really prospects, I'm going to include them in the prospect thread as it's their first NHL deals.

Oh, I didn't see that SOKOL posted the tweet in that thread already, thanks caley.
Justin Azevedo of the LA Kings has reportedly signed with Lukko of the SM Liiga. Although since the LA Kings are still in the playoffs the deal will not be official til the playoffs are over
