i was looking at the highlights from the sabres game last night and saw this comment from a leafs fan
A seven-year-old Toronto, Ontario boy was at the center of a Toronto city courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the ...degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Toronto Maple Leafs, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

The veteran goaltender likely played his last game with the Boston Bruins, a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at TD Garden. The 10-year NHL veteran finished with 22 saves.

NHL should take a key from English soccer and play 15 games all at the same time on the last day. That really bothers me that the Caps will know what they have to do before they play.
Not necessarily. The Caps might still have a shot at the division, with the Panthers playing later that night.
But yeah, it would be nice to have the games at the same time. They could even do what the NFL does, which is move some games but not all so that there is still drama in the later ones.
If anything I'd see it as the exact opposite. Sit TT so Ottawa doesn't get any ideas about jostling him prior to the playoff showdown next week.
I think some are having this debate over on Boston's board. Play your top players and beat them at their place to send a message prior to the series, or rest your guys to avoid malicious hits/injury and then start ramping up for the playoffs against Buffalo.

A Buffalo win and a Florida win tomorrow night is the only way Buffalo can have control of its own destiny heading into Saturday, so that is what I'm rooting for.

The Rangers would be in a position of literally deciding their first round opponent. If they win the shootout, they'd play Buffalo. If they throw the shootout, they'd play Washington.

In general, when teams don't knock their potential first round opponent out when they had the chance, it ends up coming back to haunt them (or at least it feels that way).
2 thoughts just crossed my mind:
first: for which result do we actually hope in that game obv a regulation win, but for whom?
second: how about a gdt for that one? just because it is such an important piece of hockey ´for this very final playoff push?

Yep - have to route for FLA. In order to get by Washington, we just have to get 1 more point than they do. That could be 4 points for BUF and 3 for WSH, or 3-2, 2-1 or even 1-0, and it doesn't matter what Florida does. That leaves many different scenarios where we could succeed.
On the other hand, the only way we get past Florida is BUF goes 2-0-0, WSH goes 2-0-0 and FLA goes 0-2-0. That's only 1 winning scenario with 3 teams involved. That's extremely unlikely.
