I just noticed that the play in the swedish 4th division? Im intrigued why and how this happened and also are there any other finnish based teams playing outside finnish leagues

Well, the only related case I've heard is that an Estonian team is planning to play in Mestis

Weird, you'd think it would be easier to play on Finnish mainland, a lot closer than Stockholm for example

The main reason apparently is that FIHA is not a public organization, and therefore not bilingual.

Most of the locals consider themselves Swedish and many of them can't speak proper Finnish. I guess it's just more natural for them to play in a Swedish league rather than in a Finnish league.

lol, no. Ålanders consider themselves as Ålanders, not Swedish or Finnish. But I do think that language is the key reason why MIFK plays in Sweden.
