Switch Grig to Gal and then I'd agree that I'd prefer it, but I still believe we could get a good player at 8, just obviously not AS good.

I wouldn't read into what Lats said in his darkest post-concussion days.

Here is some advice to those of you not happy with how the Wild are playing lately.

Turn off the TV and stop buying tickets.

Nobody is forcing you to watch the Wild play, and then for you to ***** when they win games? Get the **** over yourselves, this isn't about you and your desires for a top draft pick. This is about a team of guys trying to come together and win games. Respect that and respect the game of hockey or quit your *****ing. Pick one please and spare the rest of us your incessent whining.

/rant off

I'm not very excited about the notion of drafting Grigorenko, but I get what you're saying. I do trust Fletcher and our drafting team to find us a good pick despite where we draft.

I do want the wild to lose but yeo is right, asking players to throw the game or even attempting to sabotage the game is just wrong, i hate it that they are playing well now but its life.

It's not just us playing well, but a combination of that and the teams we're playing against not looking interested.

I hate to say I told you so, but well, Nashville kind of validated all of my fears about them last night. I'm surprised we didn't finish them off in regulation and it's only our shootout errors that allowed them to come away with it.

Yeah, I definitely didn't expect them to be that flat, especially this time of the year.

Anyone notice they don't seem to be missing Spurgeon or Cullen too much?

I think they're missing Spurgeon in the sense that he can log some higher end minutes and not be a disaster. Since he's been out, Gilbert has been pressed into playing a ton. While that has helped him settle in with what the Wild are looking for, of course that isn't ideal over the long term.

A team really shouldn't miss mediocre players all that much.

But with this season it's hard to gauge any one player's contributions. Can't really get a read on their effectiveness.

As much as I rag on Spurgeon holding the point on the PP, they're really missing him for the zone entry. They're basically forced into dump and chase to get in the offensive zone on the PP without him.

you can not be a fan but you have to appreciate he's better than everyone else out there except Gilbert, surely. But you're a "tanker" so that's probably not a selling point

lol idk. I know he's good for what we have, but it still doesn't really mean he's that good. Not physical, and pretty damn terrible offensively (his time on the PP made me sick). Yeah he's a puck mover but if the opposing team chooses to actually hit him, he's done for, which happened a few times this season.

Spurgeon has had a great knack for avoiding the hit. He simply oozes hockey sense and knows where to be when, and when to not be somewhere...

Is he a top pairing D-man? No, but he was forced into that role for us due to the ineptitude of the rest of the D. In the long run, he'll be a solid depth defenseman who won't ever be overly expensive to keep on the roster. A guy you can depend on in his own zone, and can help the offense on the rush etc.

I think everyone will be happier with him when he can settle into a middling role that he should be in once we get more real D-men on the team. Gilbert was just the first step in that direction.

No because Gilbert took over that role just fine. Although if we had both in the lineup I'd be curious to see how that would affect things.

I haven't noticed Cullen's absence at all. He's so incredibly streaky that if he's not scoring, he's just ticking me off with the constant turnovers and overskating the puck.
