Btw they did the same thing for Russian khl-tv not so long ago and got two new guys.
Are they any good? And by good I mean, whether they don't miss goals scored because they are speaking non-sense which has nothing to with going-ons on the ice?
Watched that game, he is miles better than most of those old Soviet farts, but there's still a lot of places to improve, like on that breakaway, he almost missed it completely because he was trying to finisha long and unnecessary sentence.
Consistently misses the actual action, while talking about something rather irrelevant. It's actually the biggest difference between Eastern and Western commentary cultures. Meanwhile it's nice to hear the sometimes interesting stories and behind the scenes from the commentators, I would rather them call the game 1st and foremost (like the Western commentators) so that I know who is shooting, or passing or making a play. Instead of it coming after it happened.
Sometimes the old soviet farts will miss a goal almost entirely and have no clue what just happened or who scored. Sure, they may be very knowledgable, but that's what color commentators are for. The play-by-play should be done by someone who is "on the ball" All the time.
I disagree, I'm not blind and can see myself what happens with the puck. Dangerous moments and scoring chances, sure, but constantly talking about who passes who for 60 minutes is a load of bs.

Why are you exaggerating like that? When have you seen anyone talking 60 minutes about passes? Of course we think these both styles should be balanced, but missing huge plays because announcer is in middle of reading his homework from notes is inexcusable. As I said this dude at least is showing some passion about the game unlike some specimens in KHL.
So has anyone heard back or even advanced in this contest? I would be very good at this, but unfortunately live in the US so don't qualify. BTW, I watched the Youtube highlights of this new young guy & he's much better than the old farts. He actually doesn't put me to sleep. BTW, they did the same with soccer commentators in Russia. Hired a bunch of new 20-somethings through contests like these and they are light years better than the old ones they had. Educated, well spoken, often multi-lingual, with a good sense of humor & what's most important intelligent. The old ones often had the attitude of being the smartest guy in the world just because they happened to play the game professionally at some point, but were dumb as a board, ignorant & boring. I enjoy watching soccer with Russian commentary a whole lot more now than before.

Head of KHL broadcasting department: "3 canadian hockey broadcasters and 4 american hockey broadcasters wants to buy KHL rights. Negotiations are about news, highlights, one game per week during weekend. We want to sign 2y deal"
This is most important part from russian article
I'm thinking if the KHL put it together right -- with English commentators, a Canadian broadcasting deal, and a creative who's who and "adopt a team" publicity push -- they could really take advantage of the NHL lockout.
The rise of a viable alternative pro hockey source could be the one thing that slippery New York lawyer hasn't factored into his plan to wait out the players.
dunno, google translator is your friend though. Is Finnish Hockey league web-site available in Russian?
Dunno, but NHL.com is in finnish.
Didint even mean to ask it thought, google translate is enough for me when it comes to the website, i meant if KHL tv now actually has english version of the broadcasts and the are streamed free ad onhckey.ru.
Rumour is Osdachenko and Dangle will be involved. I know they did a demo on dangles youtube page. A little awkward. Would prefer someone a little more professional, perhaps a recent Russian English speaking retired player. What about Khavanov, Kasparaitus.....Kovalev? lol okay thatt might be a stretch but there must be some one out there who would like to do this.
