Sort of...Claude went undrafted twice...and the CHL didnt have this waiver rule back then, so as soon as Claude wasnt picked in his 2nd draft he was free to sign with anyone and he didnt have to be exposed to waivers.

Hey LaLaLaprise,

Thanks for the info, so if the kids are outside of New England area I guess what your saying is that the CSR is fairly well covered as I was chating with a friend who told me there are numerous kids from the Maritimes and Quebec also playing in Major Midget AAA 96/95/94 in Ontario so is that also covered ????

Not to the same extent Local Midget leagues are covered, but the kids playing at Ontario Prep Schools are being watched.

LaLa - does not getting invited to the combine mean you will not be drafted? Is it dramatically less likely to be drafted as a 16 year old? I'm thinking of the late bloomers or young 15 year (Nov-Dec kids) olds out there who may not have had a ton of exposure (ice time, played MM or been part if provincial programs) as 1st year players. I would certainly appreciate your take.

A weekend of hockey shouldnt determine the draft...there are too many variables to toss in...there have been lots of kids who get drafted after not being invited. I wouldnt worry about it.

Honestly, I have no worries unless a son pops out of the woodwork (please god no!). I was never very good at putting it pass the goalie - LOL! Really, I am curious as to how it all works. I've read lots of posts and folks talk about politics, parents and coaches almost as much as the players so its somewhat confusing. As a fan and perhaps a soft-heart for the underdog, I watched some 1st year kids this year that looked like they had some potential but had limited ice or played on bad teams and therefore not (likely) noticed to the extend of others. Mind you, these guys weren't 1st rounders but did seemed to have some hockey ability and needed an opportunity. I was hoping that given the opportunity that the door is still be open. With respect to worry - your the scout so all the pressure is on you . I'm semi-retired and just enjoying the rink for the first time in 10 years or so.

No worries Ive talked to lots of parents over the years and most are always worried about Politics or backroom dealings or all of that other stuff...at the end of the day the scouts are generally pretty good...most of us dont follow the popular opinion, we have minds of our own and we can factor in playing time, where the kid plays, the coach, all of that stuff...you cant scout in a vacuum and there are always factors at play that we need to take into consideration.

The CSR has their preferences and they will invite those players...or players who have been viewed limited times because of where they play or because of injuries and other factors. At the end of the day if me and my team are really high on a player who is flying under the radar, we love it when they dont get invited to CSR because that can be a sort of coming out party for that player...good for the player overall...but bad if now you have 5-6 teams after him instead of just 1-2...

Thanks for the info and insight, it is much appreciated. I'm glad my draft day has come and gone. I certainly can't begin to imagine the pressure and stresses on these kids at such young ages. Thankfully and I guess rightfully so, I still see more then on their faces when they hit the ice! Best of luck to you during the draft season!

Invitation combine 2012

Has anyone got their invitation to the combine ?

Just wondering the fact that blainville-boisbriand are starting their playoffs .the combine was suppose to happen at blb arena so that could be a problem.

Can someone confirm that the CSR team this year is much smaller than previous years. I was told during the Reebok challenge that only 2 scouts from the previous year were still on the team of only 6. I may be incorrect but I recall being told that CSR is usually around 12 members.

The CSR Under Armour Combine invites have begun to flow. Those invited should see the letters/emails soon.

I am under the assumption that some of the top maritime players (Highmore, MacIntyre, Kielly, Gallant, and others) will not be attending as it may draw more interest for a Quebec based team and they would rather stay in the Maritimes.. Is this true? If my kid was rated high and I had a choice Id probably send him just for the experience.. But are any parents under that assumption (parents of the aforementioned boys)

Kielly and Mccabe will be going from PEI and Gallant will be attending if the orthopedic surgeon gives the ok on a cracked femur

Where is Highmore, Moody, Blanchard, Keilly, Gallant, McCabe, etc? Are there more teams to be announced or are these players already "in" so they do not need to be there...?

I would say they probably want to stay in maritimes, to not draw interest from Quebec teams but im not sure. But IF these kids are heading to the Meltdown the next weekend, I would assume that all scouts would be attending that also..
