If one of the kids are ready and bump him down, then so be it, but I wouldn't assume that they are.

A dream scenario would be to run Koivu - Granlund (if he plays center) - Cullen - Brodziak and have it go something like

Heatley - Koivu - Seto
Bouchard - Granlund - Parise
Bulmer? Zucker? - Cullen - Latendresse
Powe - Brodziak - Clutter

That's 4 lines that can score.

It just seems like there's no place for Cullen on next year's roster at all. He's not good enough to be in the top 6 and 3rd line center is Brodziak's spot. Can't wait til his contract expires after next year.

I wouldn't exactly pencil in Bouchard yet.. So as of now, I'd put Cullen in his spot.

That 2nd line could be called the Canadiens line, as they're the only team crazy enough to run a line where the "big guy" is 5'11" 185lbs.

I think Cullen would be great as the #3 center. He's a little exposed playing on the second line.

I'd still put Cullen at #2 center and Brodziak at #3. Brodz is the better defensive player and that's the checking line, going out against the top lines. Cullen at #2 should be going out and playing "soft" minutes (Brodz against #1 line, Koivu against checking line).

Another reason I think Christensen is redundant, although he's nowhere near as good as Cullen defensively, he's more a guy who thrives in soft minutes against mediocre to bad defense.

I say no. He is the same player I saw in Pitt years ago. Soft, invisible most games, and cannot play on the bottom 6. I'd rather have young players around guys that work hard and show a consistent work ethic every game.

I like Cullen much more as a wing than a center. He's a guy who, I believe, should be shifted around the line-up playing both center and wing. Of course with the rash of injuries this year, that wasn't in the cards. I do think his skill set is better used at wing as I'd like a center to be a bit more sturdy and gritty in the defensive zone.

Exactly my thoughts. Well said.

Yeah, Christensen could be effective over the course of a year if he's in a situation where a team doesn't regard him as a threat...keep him on lines away from the guys you're counting on to score (and presumably who the opposition is keying on) and he could be good. I haven't seen enough of him personally to say he's horrible defensively. Haven't really noticed it. Haven't noticed him being good, either. Might be one of those maybe/maybe not guys where Yeo has the balance tipping vote. It isn't going to make or break the team, or have a domino effect like the decision about Lats will have.

If this Czech site is legit (and elite prospects thinks so), Christensen is taking his talents to Europe.

Too late.

On the plus side, that 2013 7th round pick will sooth things over.

Well, his game should suit KHL. At least we're getting that 7th, but now we essentially traded Wellman for 7th and a worse pick in 2012 draft.

Good luck, Eric.

Didn't we sign Wellman as a college free agent? So... Free 7th round pick!

Yeah, essentially, but I still think he was worth more than a 7th rounder.
