He got his big ass contract and did not let up. I dont understand when ppl mention the core of this team his name is never brought up. He's the leader in that Core. You cant have a core without leadership and dedication.

After Saku and Kovalev, I havent seen anyone as dedicated to this team for a prolonged period as him
He actually upped his game after the contract. He's got an edge to his game now.

I think that's the 3rd highest block total since the lockout.

The guy is so underrated. Love Gorges, he's great!

Definitely part of our core going forward and most likely our next captain.

It's perfectly fine to respect Gorges for the hardworking player that he is, but captain? Balderdash I say!

I don't love Gorges. I don't hate him either. Let's be honest, I like players who score goals and help a team win when it's biggest issue is to score important goals at crucial times. He had a useless role in a depleted and yound d-men group.

I wouldn't say he is underrated anymore.

That said, congrats Josh. It's as if the trophy was made just for him. Like if there was a "best center under 5 ft 7" trophy.

Not surprised, the "throw-in" from the rivet trade has been a smart and dedicated player for this team.

I'm a huge Josh Gorges fan but in my opinion, he's definitely not unsung. Not by Habs' fans, not by Habs' players, not by other teams' players... perhaps only by other teams' fans.

I think by now Gorges is recognised as this team #1 D (when Markov is not playing) or, at worst, closely behind Subban, by most hockey fans. I am not sure he fits the "unsung hero" label anymore. That being mentioned Gorges is a warrior so if they want to give him a trophy... no problem!

Plus... if not Gorges... who should it be? Desharnais was an important part of our first line and he received plenty of recognition (by his peers, coaches and fans) so I don't see him as an unsung hero... Emelin? Diaz? Darche?

You know what? Gorges!

Edit:

PS omg... I agree with Habsterix!

i'm usually good with internet sarcasm, but for the life of my, in my 2-3 years here, i still can't decipher what the truth is with the kelowna rockets. both sides of the answer are always so laden in sarcasm it always created doubt either way. it;s like the one thing where i can never tell if it's trolling lol. personally, i tend to believe he did captain the rockets. but 30-40% of me doubts it at times.

He did. There was a time a few years ago when the habs had a bunch of ex-captains on the team. There was Streit, Kovalev... yeah it's been a while. Anyway there was a bunch and Gorges was one of them.
