His stats aren't even bad, besides +/- which is always going to be low when you are always on the ice at the same time as the opponents best forwards on a bad team. In fact Plekanec's +/- says more about this team that is does about Pleks.

His goal total is disappointing but even without much help he's a top 30 center point-wise. This is despite being used more defensively than offensively this season.

Also among centers, only Adam Henrique has more short handed points.

The PP's are down and the league's scoring is down. If you look at the scoring leaders, almost everyone is having a bad/down year. It's really the fact that we're a bottom 2-3 team and not a playoffs team that is going against Plekanec.

BTW +- is a garbage stat that show nothing at all, it's the worst in hockey and I laugh each time someone use it in an argument. It's so important to put it in a context.

Well I guess there is a huge change Plekanec and Gionta have a better production Lars Eller and Bourque aswell. These 4 players underachievesd offensively this season. Anyway, a lot of Mtl problems were defensively and I think any smart DG would adress that. The team will be hard to play against, because it seems that the organization want a physical brand of hockey.

Don't know about that but they will be harder then this year I would think. All depends on what is done to fill in holes and if those with break out years continue to move forward.

I believe there are some great pieces in place for this team we just need a smart GM that can fill the missing holes and a coach that will have the team play a style that really takes advantage of the people in place.

My biggest hope is for another strong dman and some secondary scoring to take pressure of the current number one line.

I'm not down on Plekanec anymore since I put Plekanec in a "More horrible player" poll...
