With Dumont dressing in his first NHL game, Trevor Timmins and his scouting staff from 2003 to 2009 have selected 55 players and after last night 25 have appeared in at least one NHL game to date.
In addition to the 25 are the un-drafted CHLers and FA NCAAers, David Desharnais, Cedrick Desjardins, Yann Danis, Frederic St. Denis, Andreas Engqvist, Brendon Nash, Robert Mayer and Brock Trotter.
Here's the list,
2003
Andrei Kostitsyn- 10th
Maxim Lapierre- 61st
Ryan O'Byrne- 79th
Corey Locke- 113th
Mark Flood- 188th
Jaroslav Halak- 271st
With Valentenko, Fortier, Conboy, Kristo, Qualier, Nattinen and Bennett.
He's got a legit shot at 30.
For sure he could hit 30, and that's damn impressive. 30 of 55 picks is downright sick, even if he doesn't hit 30 he should be very close as I got to think at least 2 or 3 from the above list will see NHL ice at some point in the future.
He's solid picks alot of 3rd/4th liners but there are some great picks there, at least 2 of them don't even play on the habs anymore though lol, nothing he can do about that
Any comparables with other NHL scouting directors to see how his percentages stack up against others in similar positions in the league?
No source but I believe Mtl is No. 1 in this regard, ratio of team draft picks making it to the NHL. A source I can't link to says we're No. 3. Anyway, impressive.
Colour me cynical but Timmins' sterling success rate is one reason I'm not as thrilled as some that we'll have a top-5 pick this year. Our crappiness has no connection to the draft, clearly the cause of our crappiness lies elsewhere. You can give a monkey a Stradavarius and he'll only pound it into his own feces.
That's close to 50%, that's unheard of in a 30 team league. That has to be #1 by a landslide.
If you don't count '08 and '09 since it's still very early for those picks, he's had 23 of 42 play in the NHL which is almost 60%. That's insane, plus it could still go up if any of Conboy, Stejskal, Fortier, Valentenko see any NHL action.

Even crazier! Lock the guy up for life, he's the best in the world!
Not THAT bad, I mean, we have iced worse lineups at some point this year lol
His defensive picks have been amazing. His drafting of forwards has left something to be desired tho outside of Patches. I mean when you take Fischer instead of Claude Giroux and AK46 instead of Carter, Brown, Perry, Parise, Richards you can't exactly argue that he's a beast. You guys seem to be arguing that quantity trumps quality. He just needs to up the quality in his forward picks.
But I have faith in Timmins tho. I just hope he knocks another one out of the park like he did with Patches.
