What if two teams were playing in the last game of the season and both NEEDED to win in OT to get in... would they both pull the goalie? That would be intense.

Confirmation of Mason starting.

Quote:
Steve Mason will start against the Colorado Avalanche in the Pepsi Center tonight, though he was penciled in as the starter before York was injured. Shawn Hunwick, an emergency pickup signed last week, will be the backup if York is out, which appears to be the case. Hunwick is the brother of Avalanche defenseman Matt Hunwick.

York apparently pulled his groin this morning.

People wonder why the CBJ have sucked this year... This might have had a bit to do with it:
Quote:
The Blue Jackets have dressed five goaltenders this season. Another, Mark Dekanich, was slated to be the No. 2 this season but never made a game roster because of ankle and groin injuries.

I remember quite a few years ago when the Avs still had the division streak going, that in the last game of the season against the ducks at the pond they had to win and not tie to get the division lead. They pulled their goalie in overtime to get the win. They ended up winning with something like 3 seconds left. But for most of the overtime their goalie was standing at the red line waiting to make the jump to the bench. It was pretty intense.

Oh, we know all about injuries destroying our team. Avs have been in the top 3 for Man games lost 3 times in the last 5 years. Last year they started 17 different Defensemen.

I seem to recall the Avs doing this in 2001 aswell in OT. It was the first time hearing that if you pull ur goalie in OT and you lose you dont get the extra point. I think it was to get patrick an extra win? Can someone confirm.

I like the fact that the Avs got 5 days rest, cause I think they needed it. On the other hand, I hate that they got 5 days rest cause they have tended to come out with no fire after long layoffs.

Jackets have been playing well lately too. Wont be shocked to see them win something like 4-2.

I hope if the Avs lose this game, that they tank the last one so Detroit doesn't get 4th place.

I am worried the boys come out flat tonight. 5 days of rest should be an advantage, but the Avs have shown in the past that they come out slow after long breaks. 1st period is going to be critical.

There's no doubt it's going to take a while for the boys to find their legs after 5 days rest......that's why we have Varlamov

The reason the Avs come out flat after long breaks from games is because they get to spend all that time instead with Sacco and the coaching staff during practice Avs showed in March that the less practice time they have the better they play...

Why do I have a feeling Duchene bought it.

Those couple of years he had to watch Foote's sons sleep in that bed and now he gets the bed.
