In any event, they had to give up a small compensation for him to become coach. I had never heard of anything like that at the time. I believe Esposito was the Rangers GM. He has always been a "special" guy with out-of-the-ordinary moves.

I don't think the Nords were actively shopping their coach, however. In fact, I doubt such a thing has ever happened and it would spell disaster.

I wondered at the time if the Colorado Avalanche trade of Janne Laukkanen to the Ottawa Senators for the rights of Brad Larsen was the thank you for letting Martin go in the middle of the season.

Have you seen Pat Quinn's record with ruining teams? Obviously not!
Muckler is the same guy that went out and got Peca for Mogilny, he helped put the Sabres on top before being fired...he made Regier's job a lot easier for him. Muckler won't make this team worse, if anything he is going to add some grit and tuff'n them up to help them in the Hard Nosed East. It's quite obvious that finesse can't win every time, you need the good grinder types like Fisher.

If Mahlorta is on waivers maybe Muck should pick him up if he passes that far to the Sens to have an opportunity to pick.
