Yeah they definitely should have starting losing games on purpose..or something. That's how it works in fantasy land right?

-Ladies and gentlemen... your 9th place Buffalo Sabres. Please pick up your lower case 'e' on the way out of the building.
-I flipped to the WAS FLA game to see what would happen and turned just in time to hear the Caps fans cheer at the announcement that the Sabres lost. That was a bummer.

I'm just numb. I never had such high expectations for a Sabres team in my life, and this happened. I'm just completely numb right now.

Weber actually had a pretty good game. 6 blocked shots, no real brain farts...

Too bad when it counted the most it was the vet who let the gwg get past him.

We really wouldn't have gone anywhere with so many of our D out, especially Ehrhoff apparently.

Not that I wouldn't have loved a playoff berth, but I guess friends and family will get to enjoy seeing me more in the coming weeks.

You expected more this year than in 2006? What?

It isn't just a top 5 pick they won't be getting... it's a top 3 pick from where they were then and likely a more aggressive retooling at the deadline (Leopold, perhaps Roy). Eh. It was a fun ride, but still more mediocre results and another ho-hum draft position.

Just saying.

This whole two month run was for nothing in the end, and all it really achieved in the end was to substantially worsen our draft position and throw away what would have been our first top 5 pick in a decade.

Nah, more likely they start the retool earlier and play guys like McNabb and Brennan down the stretch after moving out Leopold.

Miller's season is over too. I'm sure we'll see Enroth on Saturday.

Anyone notice the lack of intensity? There was none of the urgency there was on Tuesday. Also Vanek was god-awful.

Oh well at least there was some eye candy behind Ruff.

Best part is, we won't see Darcy do anything this off season, he will probably do nothing attributing our season to injuries. While half true, I don't see a winner in the locker room.

Yes.

Too bad we always need to find the Goat in every loss.

Sabres lost as a team.

Sabres failed to make the playoffs as a team.

Yea, because the 1st round picks we do have are totally gonna suck!

can't believe this team smoked the caps heads up and then completely crapped the bed thereafter.

Laich scored the GWG for Wahsington and sadly I couldn't be happier it was him. Miller just needs to shut the **** up in the media. Anytime someone will hear his opinion he gives it, he's like a blog writer. Just be quiet and actually win a big game.

G:

Pegula and Black seem to take their own mottos to heart, and will work ferbently to make a cup contender. Changes will hopefully be made.

B:

Lindy Ruff will still be here, which means another year of little to no line chemistry (can't wait to see FES broken up) and terrible special teams.

U:

No playoffs after high expectations is always ugly.

This will be the summer of excuses. Injuries . . . the puck not bouncing their way . . .

I don't want to hear it. You CANNOT **** around until the All-Star break and then just decide to turn on the jets. You have to play a full 60 minutes for 82 games.

Until this team learns that, they're not going anywhere.

Well, it's one thing for these guys staying injured and not getting their collective **** together, but it's another to expect pro athletes to tank a season to get a pick (not saying you were insinuating this). The situation is what it is.

The injuries this year sucked, for sure. I think Regier (with good intentions) messed with the chemistry/balance of the team a bit too much this year. Team wouldn't have gotten far in the playoffs anyway.

Ugly: No more (meaningful) Sabres hockey until October. 6 months. Half a year.

Full props to the Flyers scouting staff (Luce included) who saw what they did in Matt Read and gave him that 1-way deal last spring. Speed kills and he's got it. One day, maybe, the Sabres can figure out a way to sign someone like that instead of the Syzdlowski's of the world...
