C'mon, he was very active last offseason (Regehr, Leino, Ehrhoff) and at the deadline. It's one thing if you don't like those moves, but you can't say he hasn't been active.
This season was probably the least fun I've had watching the Sabres. At least I expected it with other lousy teams. The total lack of compete was just infuriating. So many hair-pulling games.
This will be the summer of excuses. Injuries . . . the puck not bouncing their way . . .
I don't want to hear it. You CANNOT **** around until the All-Star break and then just decide to turn on the jets. You have to play a full 60 minutes for 82 games.
Until this team learns that, they're not going anywhere.
Well, it's one thing for these guys staying injured and not getting their collective **** together, but it's another to expect pro athletes to tank a season to get a pick (not saying you were insinuating this). The situation is what it is.
The injuries this year sucked, for sure. I think Regier (with good intentions) messed with the chemistry/balance of the team a bit too much this year. Team wouldn't have gotten far in the playoffs anyway.
I wasn't saying they would tank. I said they would deal established vets and give their kids force-feed minutes to intensify their seasoning to bring them along further for next season. Typically, that will hurt results.

U: Regehr doing his best pylon impression. He was never fast to begin with, but he seems to be losing half a step per month. 4.2 M is a lot of cap space to be using up next year. Add that to Leopold (Mr. 5-6 d-man) and you're talking Suter money.
Anyone notice the lack of intensity? There was none of the urgency there was on Tuesday. Also Vanek was god-awful.

This is what bothered me most. I can understand struggling w/o your top D, but waving your stick at the opponent as your season ticks away? Flyers run 2.5 shifts of possesion through the Sabres D zone in the final 3 minutes and nary a forward puts a body on anyone.
